🦁 Performing Arts with 6D 🦁

In Performing Arts with Mrs D'Arienzo, 6D have begun working on writing their scripts based on the story of The Wizard of Oz. In the next few weeks, students will begin bringing these scripts to life, as they turn themselves into different characters and act out the story in their own creative way. Well done 6D πŸ™‚

On Tuesday August 18th, Group 1 Non-Campers visited the Roxy Wetlands and explored their 5 senses to practise being present, centred, and grounded. The students took photos with their iPads, practising zooming in to capture the close-up details of nature. Below are their illustrations of their perceptions of the Wetlands. Students also wrote a text, choosing their text type, through the lens of a Wetlands creature.

🌻🌻 6D "I'm a Survivor" unit of work 🌻🌻

As part of their β€˜I’m a Survivor’ unit, 6D created impressive biome dioramas to demonstrate their understanding of how living things survive in different environments. Students researched their chosen biome and included features such as climate, landforms, plants, animals and other environmental features. Well done, 6D, on your fantastic effort and creativity!

🀝🀝 Cross Age Learning 🀝 🀝

This term, our Grade 5 students have been exploring light, including how it travels and how rainbows are formed. Earlier this year, our Foundation A students showed a keen interest in learning about rainbows, so this week our Grade 5A students visited them to share the "Rainbow in a Cup" experiment.

The Grade 5 students explained concepts such as refraction and reflection, helping the Foundation students understand how rainbows are created. It was wonderful to see the older students confidently sharing their knowledge while the younger students listened with curiosity and excitement.

The room was filled with smiles, wonder, and enthusiasm as both classes enjoyed learning together.

🌟 3B Learning Celebration! 🌟

Today in 3B, we have been building our understanding of place value and discovering how smaller units can be grouped into larger units.

To be successful, students needed to be able to explain that
πŸ”Ή 10 ones = 1 ten
πŸ”Ή 10 tens = 1 hundred

Students used their mathematical thinking to explore how numbers are made up and how regrouping helps us understand larger numbers. It was wonderful to hear students confidently explaining their learning and making connections between ones, tens and hundreds.

πŸ‘ Well done, 3B, on your curiosity, teamwork and growing confidence as mathematicians! Keep up the fantastic learning!
