This years Book Week “Symphony of stories” starts tomorrow.

We have our annual Book Fair set up in the foyer ready to go, with lots of beautiful books available to purchase.

And if the children would like to, they can come dressed up in their favourite costume. (I’m sure some of the educators will be too 😍).

We look forward to seeing everyone for a fun week of literacy 📚

A big THANK YOU to the Dentists and dental nurses from the Dawson Street Dental Surgery in Cooma for visiting us today, and sharing some super fun tips about keeping our teeth healthy and our smiles bright 🦷 🌟 😁

The preschoolers loved discovering how to brush like champions, make healthy choices for their teeth and why regular visits to the dentist are so very important.

We thank them for taking the time during Dental Week, to come and inspire healthy habits that will last a life time. And also, who doesn’t love a good goodie bag 💕

Thank you Dawson Street Dental Surgery

While the chatter and activity of the children may be on pause during the school holidays, our team of educators are hard at work behind the scenes!!

They have been thoughtfully preparing environments that inspire curiosity, creativity and learning.

Each learning space is intentionally designed with care to invite exploration, encourage independence and support each child’s development.

Each school holiday period, we use these quieter weeks to provide valuable time for Educators to reflect, plan, have conversations, learn through professional development and create spaces where the children feel welcomed, safe and excited to learn.

Thank you to our incredible team of early childhood educators for your care, dedication and thoughtful planning that contributes to the positive environment where the children play and learn.

We are looking forward to seeing the children return in term three, and the excitement in their faces as they explore these new spaces.

This morning the children have enjoyed exploring pendulum painting, a creative experience that combines art, movement, and early science concepts.

They observed how the swinging paint created different patterns and lines, they experimented with cause and effect, prediction and problem solving. With each artwork being a unique design.

Sounds promising, but as they say, the devil will be in the details. We await outcome of meeting with Fair Work Australia on Monday.

The IEU welcomes the NSW government's announcement today of a new funding model for not-for-profit community preschools that will come into effect in 2027.

The new scheme includes:
📍pay increases for early childhood staff
📍full funding of the operating costs of not-for-profit preschools (conditional on meeting strict quality standards)
📍new funding to expand access for three-year-old children
📍increased funding to support children in priority cohorts, including a major reform to the Disability Inclusion Program.

"The IEU will meet with the NSW government at the Fair Work Commission (FWC) on Monday, 29 June to discuss the new scheme. Greater detail is needed on the funding commitments," said IEU NSW/ACT Branch Secretary Carol Matthews.

So disappointed in the NSW Government with their lack of commitment to fix the significant wages gap in community Preschools and keep services affordable for families.

Today’s NSW Budget was a missed opportunity for the NSW Government to fix the significant wages gap in community preschools and keep services affordable for families. It did not provide answers on how services will cover the cost of mandatory gender undervaluation and award increases without increasing fees for families.

CELA has expressed our significant concern about the delay in confirmation of funding, especially with less than a week until the next Award increases.

There is still time for the NSW Government to commit to funding the wages gap before the 1 July deadline.

CELA urges the NSW Government explain how it will protect the affordability of community preschools at the next Fair Work Commission hearing on 29 June.

CELA will continue to use our effective solution focused advocacy to ensure the NSW Government solves this funding gap and protects the sustainability of community preschools.
