Exploring the Transporting Schema!

Our toddlers are invited to explore the transporting schema through a hands-on loose-parts experience. Using natural materials, wooden pieces and cardboard boxes, children can collect, sort, move and transport materials from one place to another.

This open-ended experience encourages:

* Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
* Sorting, classifying and early mathematical thinking
* Problem-solving and spatial awareness
* Creativity, curiosity and independent exploration
* Developing an understanding of movement and cause and effect

Through repetition and experimentation, children build their understanding of how objects can be moved, organised and transferred while learning through play. 🤎

🦖🔎 Little Palaeontologists at Work!

At Goodstart Clarinda, the children stepped into the world of palaeontology as they explored the sand, carefully brushing away layers to uncover hidden dinosaurs and fossils! 🦴✨

Armed with brushes, magnifying glasses and natural loose parts, they worked together, shared their ideas and excitedly discovered what was hiding beneath the sand.

It was a fun-filled, hands-on experience that encouraged curiosity, collaboration, language development and discovery — all while inspiring our little explorers to dig deeper and wonder, “What will we find next?” 🦖🌿🔍

Watch, explore, match & sort

Today we created an open-ended invitation to explore sorting, matching and categorising using loose parts and natural materials.

The children were encouraged to observe the different materials, make their own choices and experiment with how they could be grouped and arranged.

Through this simple experience, children were developing:

Fine-motor skills
Observation and visual discrimination
Early mathematical thinking
Classification and problem-solving
Language and communication
Creativity and self-expression
Connection with natural and recycled materials

What started as a simple invitation became a wonderful opportunity for children to think, explore, make decisions and share their ideas.

🌱 Children’s voices matter.

At Goodstart Clarinda, we value children’s voices in decisions that matter to them — from helping set expectations and routines, to sharing what helps them feel safe, respected, included and supported.
Listening to children is more than asking what they think. It’s creating space for their ideas to influence what we do, and showing them that their voice can make a difference. 💛
Because children deserve to be heard — and to know that their voices matter. 🌟

Creating a safe sleep environment is one of the many ways we care for children each day. From following safe sleep practices and using approved cots, to completing visual checks every 5 minutes, our educators take every step to help children rest safely and comfortably.

We also work closely with families to understand each child's individual sleep routine, because feeling safe, settled and well-rested helps children learn, grow and thrive.

💜 Safe sleep is everyone's responsibility, and it's always a priority.

Little Scientists at Work!

✨ Learning grows when children are encouraged to wonder, investigate and discover!

At Goodstart Clarinda, children have been exploring the fascinating Spiny Leaf Insect through inquiry based learning. Through observing, questioning and sharing ideas, children are developing curiosity, critical thinking and a deeper understanding of living things and their environment. 🔍

Who am I? What makes me, me?
At Goodstart Clarinda, we believe “Every child has their own story, strengths and way of seeing themselves — and every representation is valued.”
our Kinder children explored self-portraits using open-ended natural materials, giving them the freedom to choose, arrange, create and represent themselves in their own unique ways.
Through this experience, children explored self-identity, belonging and a sense of self while making meaningful choices about how they wanted to be represented.
