It's been great having Yoshiki train with us while he was studying at UWA. His diligent practice earned him a shodan in Butokuryu Aikijutsu to complement the dan grade he already held. We wish him every success as he leaves us.
Sensei Nener keeping the kotegeishi real. And showing the transition to kansetsu waza. Yoshi would tell you that there are no gaps, and no opportunity for escape.
Sensei Nener rather casually demonstrates the importance of kazushii in shiho-nage.
Shiho-nage again. The model: Furjimori Shihan. Done slow so we can try to understand.
Teppo training for shoulder strike and tenchi-nage practice. Australian eucalypts are straight and smooth, but a little hard and unyielding. I usually do 90 a side with both arm up and arm down. Any more and the shoulders get a bit too sore to hit with any power.
On a bigger screen I think I can see the top of the tree moving a little. But I could be imagining it.
Tenchi-nage variations II.
Shiho-nage again. By me. I can see so many mistakes and hope I have corrected some of them.
Shiho-nage demonstrated by Brett Nener Sensei. Last post he showed us how to receive the technique, here's how to do it. No need to rush, there's control from the moment he moves.
Brett Nener sensei demonstrates ukemi. Receiving a technique in training is cooperative but doesn't involve giving up. We protect ourselves from injury and keep our structure so that we can counter if there is an opportunity. And yes, the same applies if the technique is done quickly.
