This Saturday, come to Chinchilla Presbyterian Church at 3:30 pm for our first chaplaincy fundraiser concert of the year. Guest star is Susan Ellis, who works with Opera Queensland. $5 entry per person or a higher donation of your choice to the chappies.

My performance of Voi Che Sapete at the Australian Guild of Music and Speech National Awards Ceremony. I've had the flu and still have an awful cough. But my voice pulled through for three minutes.

I received my dux award and licentiate certificate for singing over the weekend in the Gold Coast. I was honoured to sing at the national ceremony before heading home on very treacherous roads after all the rain! Glad to be back safely in Chinchilla - although it is still very wet around here!

My book is getting published this week - and this time, I've written all about singing. Thirteen-year-old Hayden Connor is signed up to singing lessons by his seriously uncool parents. But when his singing teacher opens up the world of singing to him, he finds his voice and never looks back. This book is dedicated to a couple of my own previous singing teachers.

Hey everyone, a real estate agent in town is trying to find a new home for this piano. It's free to a good home and is a beautiful old Wertheim. The catch is that it's very off key and would need a tuner and possibly someone skilled in piano restoration to take a look at it. The piano has a lot of family memories for this lady and she doesn't want to dump it. I promised I'd ask around on her behalf. If you are interested in viewing it, please contact me and I'll put you in touch with her.

What voice type am I? How big will my range get? These are common questions among singers. In this video, I discuss briefly my transition from soprano to mezzo soprano and include a demonstration of just about four octaves range. Range and tessitura (tessitura being a singer's sweet spot and comfort zone) are two different things. Range might wow people but it is singing in your tessitura that will ultimately move them. Even the best singing teachers can mistake a student's voice type (Dame Malvina Major once told me emphatically in a one off lesson that I was not a mezzo but a high soprano). So singers must pay careful attention to how sustainable singing in a particular range is and ultimately how comfortable it feels in the long term.
