BILL TURNER CUP v HILLS SPORTS HS
The boys’ Bill Turner squad played their second group match of three against Hills Sports High School at home, marking the first game back on the 5Sports field since its renovation.
After a tightly contested first half, with both teams creating opportunities in front of goal, Hills Sports High School took a 1–0 lead into the break courtesy of a well-taken finish.
The boys came out strongly in the second half and created a host of chances. Their persistence was rewarded when Jacob Elkordi found the back of the net from a corner, producing a spectacular bicycle kick to level the scores at 1–1.
The match then went to extra time under the traditional Bill Turner golden goal rules. Cruz Kokontis continued his impressive form, scoring his second goal in as many games to secure a dramatic 2–1 victory for the team. An outstanding effort from all players involved.
