💙 Bullying No Way Week 2026 💙
This week at St Martin’s, we’re recognising Bullying No Way Week and this year’s theme, Small Acts, Big Impact. 🌟
Throughout the week, students are taking part in age-appropriate learning and conversations about what bullying is, the difference between conflict, unkind behaviour and bullying, and how we can all be upstanders by speaking up, seeking help and supporting others. 🤝
Our Year 6 students will also be adding their voices to the conversation by recording a special St Martin’s Mic podcast episode 🎙️, sharing key messages and practical ways we can help create a safe, respectful and inclusive school community.
Small acts of kindness, inclusion and courage can make a big difference. Together, we can help ensure everyone at St Martin’s feels safe, valued and supported. 💙✨

🌟 STEM MAD Showcase 2026 🌟
Our students have spent weeks identifying real-world problems, researching solutions, designing prototypes, testing ideas and refining their innovations.
This year's STEM MAD projects include:
🚗 Non-Newtonian Fluid Crash Protection
💨 Inflatable Vehicle Safety Bumpers
🌊 Microplastic Detection Technology
🚸 Pedestrian Crossing Safety Barrier
Through STEM MAD, students have demonstrated creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and resilience while applying STEM skills to solve authentic community challenges.
We are incredibly proud of the passion, innovation and determination shown by every team. Their projects remind us that young people can make a real difference when they are empowered to think creatively and tackle problems that matter.
👏 Congratulations to all of our STEM MAD participants and best wishes as they showcase their ideas!

Met East Netball Shield Success 🏐
On Thursday 13 August, our St Martin’s Netball Team proudly represented the school at the Met East Netball Shield competition held at MDNA. 💙💚
The team delivered an outstanding performance throughout the day, playing four sensational games in the preliminary rounds to secure a place in the quarter-finals. 🌟 After a brilliant quarter-final victory, the team progressed to the semi-finals, where they were narrowly defeated. They then competed in the 3rd/4th playoff, again just missing out and finishing an impressive 4th overall! 👏🏆
Congratulations to our outstanding players on their teamwork, sportsmanship, and resilience. 💪 Throughout the competition, the team continually embraced feedback, adapted their play, and showcased their skills with confidence and pride. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and the way they represented St Martin’s both on and off the court. 💙
A special thank you to the parents and family members who took the time to come and support our team throughout the day. 🙌 Your encouragement from the sidelines, positive energy, and unwavering support were greatly appreciated by both the players and staff.
Well done to our entire team on a sensational tournament and a fantastic achievement for St Martin’s! 🏐🌟👏

🌱🔬 National Science Week is here!🔬🌱
This week, we will be celebrating National Science Week 2026 with a range of exciting lunchtime STEM activities for students across the school.
This year's theme is "Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All", encouraging students to explore how curiosity, creativity and inquiry help ideas grow into new discoveries.
Throughout the week, students will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on science experiences designed to spark wonder and inspire future scientists:
🌱 Prep – Create and decorate your own cress head and watch it grow!
🍃 Year 1 & 2 – Design and test helicopter seeds to investigate how plants spread their seeds.
✨ Year 3 & 4 – Build a crystal tree and observe crystals grow before your eyes.
🧬 Year 5 & 6 – Extract DNA from strawberries and discover the building blocks of life.
These lunchtime sessions are always popular, and places will be limited.
At St Martin's, we love creating opportunities for students to ask questions, explore ideas and experience the excitement of scientific discovery. We can't wait to celebrate National Science Week together!

Last week as our St Martin and San Sisto communities celebrate our rich Dominican heritage, I thought it was the perfect time to share a special moment from my recent visit to Piazza San Domenico in Bologna.
Here, the Basilica of San Domenico is home to the magnificent shrine where St Dominic rests. The intricate sculptures are breathtaking, including two beautiful angels carved by the young Michelangelo. Outside the basilica, four remarkable tombs honour early scholars who helped shape the Dominican tradition of faith and learning.
Last week we gave thanks for St Dominic, whose legacy of service, education and truth continues to inspire and guide our school communities every day.
