🌟 Stay & Play 🌟

This morning, we were delighted to welcome our newest families to the St Martin’s community, prep students starting 2027! 💛

Our littlest learners enjoyed a wonderful morning of storytime 📖, playdough creations 🎨, craft activities ✂️, puzzles 🧩 and outdoor play 🌿.

It was lovely to see new friendships beginning, parents connecting and so many happy smiles throughout the morning 🤗✨

We look forward to sharing many more special moments as our Stay & Play journey continues! 🌈💫

🚒🔥 Fire Safety Comes to St Martin’s! 🔥🚒

Our Year 1 students were excited to welcome the Camp Hill Fire Station firefighters for a special visit!

The firefighters spoke to the students about fires, fire safety and what to do in an emergency. They also showed everyone their protective firefighting gear and gave the students a close-up look at the fire truck.

The highlight was seeing the powerful hose on top of the truck shoot an incredible stream of water across the tennis court! 💦🚒

A huge thank you to the Camp Hill firefighters for sharing their knowledge and helping our students learn how to stay safe. 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

This week my Italian learning took me far beyond the classroom and into the salt pans of Marsala on the far west coast of Sicilia, where landscape, history and language came together.

Walking among the brilliant white salt mounds and shallow evaporation ponds, I discovered how Sicila’s sole ‘sun’, mare ‘sea’ and vento ‘wind’ have been used for centuries to produce sea salt. I was even fortunate enough to walk through a traditional wind mill.

Did you know that the English word “salary” has its origins in the Latin salarium, linked to sal, salt. Salt was once so valuable that it was used as a currency.

A lesson in history, geography, language and culture, all from a grain of salt.

A classroom without walls. 🇮🇹☀️🌊🧂

🍝 Presenting our Year 3 Pasta Masters! 🇮🇹👨‍🍳👩‍🍳

Last Thursday, our Year 3 students showcased their creativity, skills and knowledge at the Annual Year 3 Pasta Master Expo, presenting the delicious pasta creations they developed during their Term 3 learning.

A special thank you to Mrs McIntosh and Signora Busilacchi for inspiring and preparing the students throughout the term. Their guidance and encouragement helped our budding pasta masters approach the experience with confidence, enthusiasm and creativity. ✨

The students should be incredibly proud of their creations, which were shared with and enjoyed by our Year 1 and Year 3 cohorts. Their wonderful work is now on display in the School Library for the whole community to enjoy.

Congratulations to all our Year 3 Pasta Masters! Your creativity, collaboration and enthusiasm made the Expo a wonderful celebration of Italian learning, culture and food. 👏🍝🇮🇹

🎶 On Monday, St Martin’s opened its Music Room doors to host the Kodály Queensland Open Classroom Series. 🎼✨

Music teachers from across Brisbane came together to watch our Prep and Grade 5 Music classes in action, where our students showcased their singing, reading, writing and performance skills. 🎤🎵👏

It was a wonderful morning celebrating Music at St Martin’s alongside fellow teachers and sharing the joy of learning through music. 💙🎶

A big thank you to Mrs McLennan and our students for showcasing your talents, and to Kodály Queensland for coordinating this wonderful event and bringing Music Specialist Teachers together! 🎹🎼✨
