Congratulations on our club members representing both ANU and UC at the UniSport Nationals over the weekend on the Gold Coast. Josh and Wes got to the quarterfinals in the Kyu Individual competition and Yimao finished 3rd in the Womens Dan Individual competition. Josh, Lucas and Helios put up a spirited fight in the Kyu Mens Teams event, as did Anne and Dixuan in the Womens Kyu Teams. Yimao and Josh both took away fighting spirit awards for their efforts! Congratulations also for Liahni (Team Manager), Joe sensei (Shimpan) and Jane (Shimpan & Kendo Board). Special thanks to Liahni for driving up with a lot of gear including tablecloths, banners and flags that we are lending the QKR for the AKCs next year on the Gold Coast. An all-round stellar effort encompassing the principles of Kendo!

We are very fortunate to have a group of Kendoka from Wollongong, led by David and Shoko Bunder sensei, braving the (almost freezing temperatures in Canberra and joining our Saturday training today.
It’s always great to have visitors joining our training so that we get a chance to practise our kendo against someone new and/or different. Many thanks to David sensei and Shoko sensei for bringing your members all this way to train with us.

Last Tuesday, ANUKC was honoured to be invited to deliver a Kendo experience session as part of Asia Pacific Week 2025 at ANU.
APW is the university’s flagship conference, now in its 15th year, bringing together passionate students and young professionals from across the Asia-Pacific to explore regional challenges and ideas through panels, debates, and cultural workshops.
We were grateful for the opportunity to introduce Kendo to such a dynamic and diverse group of participants. It was a pleasure to share the spirit, discipline, and philosophy of Kendo with attendees from around the world.
