Our Year 6 students demonstrated great leadership by guiding group dances and supporting younger students throughout the performance. Students also took part in a range of fun and engaging Chinese culture activities during the day.

All ACT public schools CLOSED (full day) on Thursday 11 June 2026
In order to enable industrial action and keep students safe, all ACT public schools, including specialist schools and preschools, will be CLOSED on Thursday 11 June 2026 (full day).
There will be no onsite supervision on the day.
The Education Directorate has decided to close schools to students during this time, in the interest of student and staff safety.
The Australian Education Union has notified the Education Directorate that its members will take part in protected industrial action for a full day on that day.
We are again expecting a large proportion of ACT public school staff will participate in the work stoppage, meaning we are unable to confidently plan for safe and appropriate supervision for all students.
If you have any questions or concerns about how this closure will impact your school, please contact your school directly.
We acknowledge that school closures have significant impacts on families and these decisions are not taken lightly. We are letting families know about this change as early as possible to help with forward planning. The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff remains our highest priority.

Our Royal Bluebells KDH have been busy exploring the world of shapes! Students investigated circles, squares, triangles and rectangles, thinking carefully about sides, corners and how shapes are different from one another. To finish our learning, students completed a fun and colourful craft activity using foam shapes as frames, decorating them with shape stickers and drawing their own creative pictures inside. It was wonderful to see students expressing themselves while building their understanding of shapes through hands-on learning! 🌈✨

Special Guest For 2026 National Simultaneous Storytime!
Students and staff at Florey were surprised and excited during National Simultaneous Storytime to receive our very own, personalised video message from the author Adam Jackson. Adam is one of the authors of Luna Roo, the official picture book of 2026 Simultaneous Storytime (and an avid fan of Blackburn Rovers Football Club and getting kids excited about reading).
Following the special video, all students across Florey were treated to a read aloud on the school PA system of Luna Roo by special student readers.
Needless to say, the day was a massive success and we thank Adam and all the students for making 2026 Simultaneous Storytime so special!
