Tiny Creators
Permaculture classes and nature play for kids aged 2-5
Our final three weeks of Green Rangers at the paddock. We've explored Soil, Chickens and Caring for the Land. Our Tiny Creators have become the best urban farmers I love watching them create and talk about how they've incorporated things they've learned from class to home π‘
When process art comes together and makes a perfect, low cost, earth friendly Christmas gift π©·
Mr 4 selected flowers from the garden and from there made his own flower press to preserve them. He checked on them regularly to change the paper and then after a few weeks he had the most beautiful flowers that we of course had to change into an art piece for his great grandmother.
My only warning for this one is your little one might just fall in love with the art of preserving flowers and you might end up with makeshift flower press books all over the house ππ₯°
Tiny Creators has and always will be deeply rooted in the permaculture values, one of which is 'People Care.' This Christmas we wanted to find a way to show people care to the little ones who might not be able to make it to our classes so we set out to create a donation drive, spent weekends foraging gum nuts and seedpods, tended to our organic flowers until they were ready to be dehydrated, shopped at op shops and used our local Buy nothing pages and put together some beautiful nature filled potion kits ready to create smiles in a time of year that should feel magical. In the end we made 22 kits, 21 of which went to the pediatric ward today and will be handed out on Christmas Eve to those who need it most and one kit that was posted to a family in Sydney.
Thank you so much for all of your donations, your time spent shopping and foraging and for making this possible. It feels good to end the year on a high and to as a community come together for those in need.
Let's keep being nice to each other in 2026 ππ
This one is my fav mum craft so far! Bauble making with pressed flowers from the garden π©·
The kids made their own flower baubles (yours can too with our Christmas bags π) and I didn't want to miss out on the fun so to make this one a little more grown up friendly I pressed flowers from the garden and made these.
What's been your fav craft so far?
π£Attn mum's who craft π£
It's wreath making time! I had great intentions of making a full wreath from spare logs left over from our Green Rangers class but I got carried away with my idea and the wreath was so heavy it fell apart when I touched it. So with my new glue gun at the ready we went back to the drawing board and came up with this.
Lesson from this one - have a good glue gun, have a plan or at least a loose one!
What craft do you want to see next? π¨
Nothing fancy here just a 2-min post daycare activity set up using our Christmas bag fizz. Sparkly, green fizz without any of the toxins for a fun, magical messy play afternoon.
There's still time to grab yourself a Christmas bag - pop over to the link in our bio to find out more and order yours πβ¨
Part 2 of your low tox all purpose cleaner is here! Such an easy one to make from things you probably already have at home.
Once your liquid has been sitting for 3-5 weeks in a cold dark room it's time to strain it and add it to your cleaning bottle. If you don't want something so concentrated you can dilute it here but I think it works just fine the way it is
Just remember not to use this one on any natural stones (incl marble).
Our Green Rangers made this during our sustainable home week and it's a perfectly easy recipe to get the kids involved in too!
Try this method and let us know what you think.
It's crafty mum o'clockπ’π’
Today I tried the viral citrus peel bowl and I thought I'd give you a truthful review before you try it at home.
So I used lemon peels from my own lemon tree, meaning they aren't perfectly shaped and each round is different (not like the viral vid), this made this project harder and less symmetrical for obvious reasons. I'd recommend using a decent glue gun, not the $3 one I used here because it's messy and the finished product has visible glue everywhere. It also all fell apart at one point so I think you need to be generous with oiling the bowl and precise on your gluing so a glue gun with a pointed tip would work waaaaaay better.
Anyway, it's not as cute as the viral version but hey it's real life. Happy crafting!
Let's make an all purpose low tox cleaner together using things you probably already have at home.
Here's how you can make your own:
- Gather your supplies. You'll need vinegar, a clean glass jar, lemons and rosemary
- Cut your lemons into small chucks and place inside the jar
- Add in some rosemary (optional)
- Fill the jar with vinegar making sure the lemons remain fully submerged
- Secure the lid and store in a cool dry place
- Leave for 3 - 5 weeks
We'll share a part 2 to this video later this week so you can see what you need to do next π
