What a night under the lights!

Grammar's Got Talent is our annual celebration of student performance and creativity, and this year, they brought the house down with three girls walking to the podium in first place.🎶

Joining us in the judge’s seat: brilliant cook, Masterchef contestant and Grammarian Annabel Lloyd (Class of 2012). Across music, dance and comedy, our students stepped into the spotlight with acts they'd been perfecting all year—and the confidence to match.

But this talent show was about more than applause. Every ticket sold has supported , a Canberra organisation working alongside women and children experiencing homelessness and domestic violence.

Our annual Solomon Islands Immersion trip wrapped up over the mid-Semester break, but its impact will stay with students for years to come.🌴🫶🏻

Joined by Marist College Canberra, students spent two weeks in Honiara on service-learning with local schools, as well as the Community of the Sisters of the Church, who founded our School 100 years ago. Partnering with purpose on-the-ground—in our Centenary year—gave students a rare chance to unite with the people at the heart of our story.

While the immersion provided opportunities to serve, its greatest lesson was learning to serve alongside others. Through moments of joy, challenge, reflection and connection, students discovered the importance of listening before acting, building genuine relationships and recognising the dignity, strengths and wisdom that exist in every community.

Returning home, students carried a renewed sense of gratitude, a deeper understanding of global citizenship and a commitment to shaping a hope-filled future. Thank you to our hosts, partner schools, communities, families and all those who made this extraordinary experience possible.

CGGS carved up the Perisher slopes this month!⛷️

Our student athletes earned multiple medals at the ACT-Southern NSW Interschool Snowsports Championships, with the event seeing 2,500 entries from students across 150 schools. In the Division 5 team championship our skiers took out Giant Slalom, Skier Cross and outstanding individual performances from:

🥇 Yuki: First, Giant Slalom and Skier Cross
🥈 Madi: Second, Giant Slalom and Skier Cross
🥈 Charlotte: Second, Giant Slalom; Third, Skier Cross
🥈 Mila: Second, Giant Slalom
🥉 Viktoria: Third, Giant Slalom

A seriously impressive showing by every girl who raced. Our Years 9–12 skiers now turn their sights to the Australian Interschools Snowsport Championships in early September. We look forward to keeping track as the competition continues.

Our youngest artists displayed their creativity at the ELC Art Show last week, the culmination of their Unit of Inquiry 'How we express ourselves'.

The walls were full of colour and every piece showed the children finding their own way to express an idea. The highlight was watching families move through the exhibition, children tugging parents over to say "I made that!"

A stunning collaborative piece, titled Founders’ Fairy Tale, was adapted from the School’s history, where each ELC class was given a section of the fairytale to illustrate as well as narrate, their voices captured beautifully in an audio recording played at the show.

CGGS leapt to victory at the NSW Interschool Equestrian Championships 🐎

Competing against riders from across NSW and the ACT, four student athletes took on the championship, with standout results in showjumping:

Eleanor: Third in Intermediate (Years 7–9) 90cm.
Zara: Third in Senior (Years 7–12) 70cm.
Sarah: Two second placings in Intermediate 80cm, a fourth overall finish in Intermediate 80cm Champion and fifth overall finish in Senior 70cm Champion.

Four CGGS educators were recognised by the Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL) recently for their outstanding work in and beyond the classroom.

Nancy Lee and Craig Newton were awarded the 2026 ACT ACEL Award for Excellence in Educational Leadership, presented to educators who, in the view of their peers, have made a significant contribution to the understanding and practice of educational leadership.

Sandie Simons and Sidsel Farrimond have been awarded National New Voice in Education Scholarships, recognising leaders whose forward thinking and innovation are shaping the future of education in Australia.

While celebrating our Centenary and the 100 year spirit of educational excellence, connection and opportunity that has followed, we take pride that the people shaping our next century are already here—experts who empower our students and those around them towards a hope-filled horizon.

Our first international STEM tour designed intentionally for Years 7 and 8 has returned from Singapore, and the photos say it all.✈️

Behind every smile was a week of real responsibility and real-world learning—each day, a different group of students led the tour, taking on roles as blogger, first aider, environmental steward and cultural liaison. Between a behind-the-scenes look at Changi Airport, lessons in water sustainability and high-tech farming, city sightseeing and a well-earned day at Universal Studios, students reflected each evening on where they had put our School values of Respect and Inclusion into action beyond the classroom.

The Singapore STEM tour is just one of many Trips and Tours available as part of our Cygnus at CGGS co-curricular suite of opportunities. In 2026 the Experiential and Outdoor Education program sees students travel to the Solomon Islands, Italy, New Zealand and to several of Australia’s stunning national parks, immersing them in an engaging dimension of learning.
