Just a reminder that our AGM is tomorrow night! Hope to see you there.
Our P&C Needs You
Our P&C helps make many of the extra things that families love about Southern Cross happen - community events, fundraising for the school, second-hand uniform sales, and fun stuff for the kids.
Last year, everything the P&C achieved was organised by just six volunteers. This year, only three of those volunteers still have children at Southern Cross. Weâre committed to continuing the work, but three people simply canât run the same events and support the school in the same way without help.
Weâre already seeing the impact. We had hoped to sell second-hand uniforms at the Welcome Picnic, but we donât have enough volunteers to run the stall.
Many parents worry that joining the P&C means taking on a huge workload or accidentally ending up in charge. Thatâs not the case. We already have a President, and most P&C members simply help out when they can - whether thatâs sharing ideas, helping at an event, or supporting small tasks behind the scenes.
If families want to keep enjoying community events, fundraising support for the school, and services like second-hand uniforms, we need a few more parents and carers to step forward.
Our AGM is coming up at 6pm on 16 February, and itâs the perfect chance to come along, see what the P&C actually does, and decide if youâd like to be involved. Thereâs no pressure - just showing up already helps.
The P&C belongs to our whole school community, and even a small contribution can make a big difference. We would genuinely love to see some new faces there.

Please also park safely around our pedestrian crossings - parking in the âNo Stoppingâ area means other drivers canât see the little people the crossings are designed to protect.
Please park safely around schools đ
Parking on a footpath, nature strip or roadside verge can:
â ď¸cause safety risks for pedestrians as they are less visible to oncoming cars
â ď¸increase the risk for vulnerable members of our community like children, people who are visually impaired, and those using a wheelchair or pram
â ď¸restrict the line of sight for other road users
â ď¸restrict access for emergency services vehicles
â ď¸damage trees, footpaths, gutters and underground pipes and cables.
If you cannot find a car park in our school car parks, we suggest parking a little further away and walking or riding the rest of the way. It's a quick and easy was to get in some exercise too. Letâs work together to keep our kids safe!
For more information about travelling safely to school, visit the Transport Canberra website: https://www.transport.act.gov.au/travel-options/schools/travel-safely-to-school.

đ End-of-Year Celebration â Tomorrow! đ
Weâre looking forward to wrapping up the school year with our community tomorrow evening!
A few things the P&C will have on the night:
đ Second-Hand Uniform Donations
Our second-hand uniform shop has very low stock, and we already have preschool families for 2026 hoping to pick up polos in particular.
If youâre doing a clean-out, weâd love your outgrown or no-longer-needed uniforms! You can drop them into the donations tub at the event, or pop them in the tub near Reception anytime.
đď¸ School Tea Towels
Weâll have the last of this yearâs adorable tea towels available for purchase - a perfect keepsake or gift.
đ§ Zooper Doopers for the Kids
Because itâs not a celebration without them!
Canât wait to see everyone tomorrow! đâ¨
