RIOT – Building Strong Minds, Strong Futures
Our students have been developing practical skills through the Resilience in Our Teens (RIOT) program to help them better understand themselves, manage challenges and build resilience.
Across the lessons so far, students have explored:
- How the brain develops during adolescence
- How our thinking can influence how we feel
- Strategies to manage stress and strong emotions
- Building resilience and taking greater control
- Recognising and challenging unhelpful thinking patterns
We encourage parents and carers to talk with their young person about what they are learning and look for opportunities to practise these skills together at home.
** Supporting resilience together **
We also encourage parents and carers to take advantage of the upcoming RIOT Parent Webinar Series, the next session starts 18 November, with three interactive sessions held over consecutive Wednesdays.
The webinars provide practical strategies to help parents and carers understand teenage anxiety, support their young person and build resilience at home.
Free places and discounted places are available for Thomas Reddall High School families. Please see the attached flyer for registration details and promotional codes - https://www.parentshop.com.au/parents/resilience-in-our-teens-parents
Together, we can build Strong Minds, Strong Futures. 💙

Hands-On Learning with HeadStart Plumbing!
Four of our Year 10 students are gaining valuable industry experience through the EPP HeadStart Plumbing Pre-Apprenticeship Program with Master Plumbers hosted here at Thomas Reddall High School.
The students have been getting stuck into practical plumbing skills and developing their knowledge of the industry. They are doing a fantastic job so far and showing great commitment, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
By successfully completing the program, our students will achieve three Units of Competency, providing them with valuable skills and recognised training as they explore future pathways into the plumbing industry.
We’re incredibly proud of how well they are progressing and look forward to seeing what they achieve throughout the program!
