What an incredible experience for our Surf Excellence Squad during their recent visit to the High Performance Coaching Centre in Northern NSW, home to the Australian Olympic surfing program and training base of the Irukandjis. ๐
Students scored some amazing waves at Snapper Rocks and were inspired watching surfing legends including Mick Fanning, Alister Reginato and other elite surfers in action.
Throughout the trip, students received personalised coaching and feedback through video analysis sessions, while also taking part in trampoline training, skate coaching and recovery sessions including ice baths to help build their high-performance skills both in and out of the water.
Most importantly, the experience created unforgettable memories, strengthened friendships and delivered plenty of smiles along the way. ๐ค
A huge thank you to our Surfing Program sponsors Sean Carter Realestate and Premier Facades for your ongoing support of our students and helping provide opportunities like this for our young surfers to grow, learn and chase their goals.

๐ A Special Connection to Rugby League History ๐
Thereโs plenty of excitement around our Open Rugby League teamโs qualification for the prestigious Langer Cup, but this yearโs campaign carries an extra special significance.
Among our squad are brothers Cruz and Hutch ,the grandsons of Queensland rugby league legend Allan Langer, the man for whom the competition is named. As one of the state's most celebrated players, Alfieโs legacy is woven into Queensland rugby league history, making it a remarkable moment to see Cruz and Hutch competing in the very competition that honours their grandfather's achievements.
Recently, the media visited Caloundra State High School to share this unique story, highlighting the special connection between our students, their family, and one of the game's greatest names.
We are incredibly proud of Cruz, Hutch and the entire Open Rugby League team as they prepare to represent our school in one of Queensland's premier schoolboy rugby league competitions. Opportunities like this create lifelong memories and make this year's Langer Cup campaign even more special for our school community.

Good luck to our team as they continue their Langer Cup journey! ๐๐๐

Year 11 and 12 Business students recently attended an exciting excursion to Australia Zoo, where they participated in an engaging educational program focused on strategic business decisions.

Behind every criminal case is a complex process of decision making, evidence, and legal procedure, something our Year 10 Legal Studies students recently had the opportunity to explore in greater depth.
As part of their studies into the role of law within society, students attended a presentation from lawyer Erin Salezky from the Department of Public Prosecutions. Through the discussion of real-life cases and insights into the workings of the justice system, students gained a valuable understanding of the processes that occur behind the scenes in criminal law.
The session sparked thoughtful discussion, with students asking a range of insightful and engaging questions throughout. Once again, our students represented the school exceptionally well through their maturity, curiosity, and respectful conduct during the presentation.

๐ Alumni Spotlight ๐
From Caloundra SHS PE lessons to a rural village in Chinaโฆ who would have thought the Nutbush would become an international cultural exchange? ๐โจ
We loved hearing from Caloundra SHS alumni Cleo Bray, who recently featured in an interview with the Australian National University following a trip to rural China.
In the article, Cleo shares the story of teaching villagers the Nutbush during her travels, describing it as โa small, unexpected bridge between worlds.โ What makes the story even better? Cleo said she originally learnt the dance right here at Caloundra SHS during PE classes!
Cleo is currently completing the final year of a dual degree at ANU in Asian Studies (majoring in Mandarin) and Commerce (majoring in International Business), and we could not be prouder to see where her journey is taking her.
Itโs always incredible to see the many different paths our alumni take and the lasting impact of the experiences, connections and opportunities formed during their time at Cali High.
