Girl Guides Queensland is looking for women to help inspire the next generation of confident, capable girls, and we’d love you on the team 💪

As a volunteer, you’ll build leadership skills, make lifelong connections, be inspired to get outdoors and see the real impact of your time each week. No previous experience needed just enthusiasm and a willingness to support girls to thrive.

In your local area we are currently seeking:

You can give a little of your time by helping out at weekly Guide meetings, or you can go all in! Leadership, camping, adventure, the lot!

Well done to all the volunteers from Caloundra Girl Guides who helped to make the annual Lights on the Lake event possible. It has been 10 years now since we commenced this annual service for our local community and the event is one of the highlights of our year. To see all of the smiling faces of the children getting into the festive spirit and enjoying this community event is wonderful.

📣 Reminder! Save the date 4 August - Play On! Voucher round opens

Play On! (Formerly FairPlay) is launching 4 August - a new $200 voucher program to help Queensland kids aged 5-17 get into recreational activities.

Girl Guides Queensland is a proud activity provider under this initiative. You can apply for and use a $200 Play On! voucher to offset the cost of a new Guides membership or renewal.

💥 $200 per child
💥 Two rounds each year (summer OR winter)

Parents and carers, please save your voucher and upload during membership renewal process once your annual invoice has been received via email!

Caloundra Girl Guides’ members Keira Parrott and Caitlyn Harris were recently presented with tiher Queen’s Guide Award by Queensland Governor, Dr Jeanette Young.

A Queen’s Guide award is made up of a series of challenges under sections including community, communication, collaboration, character, creative thinking and commitment to learning. Earning the Queen’s Guide Award shows persistence, dedication, leadership, focus, and a commitment to community. Girls are required to challenge themselves in different areas of interest and stretch their knowledge into new areas. The award takes many years to achieve with girls completing multiple projects under each section. Awardees learn leadership, use reflective practice and share their knowledge with their peers. Girls can choose from different areas for their focus including arts, outdoors and leadership.

Keira’s focus was in the Arts, completing additional challenges in the areas of woodwork and singing.

Caitlyn’s focus was on leadership, spending many years helping with our younger Guides section to learn new skills and help them develop Friendships.

Keira became the third generation in her family to receive the peak award in Girl Guides.

Keira began her Guiding journey as a 5 year old and has been serving Caloundra District for 13 years.

Keira’s grandmother, Monica earned her Queen’s Guide award in 1972. Monica commenced volunteering in Caloundra District in 1982. Now with over 50 years of membership in Girl Guides, including roles of State Commissioner of Queensland, Monica continues her role as Caloundra District Manager and leader of the Guides aged 14-18 years, each year encouraging more girls to achieve their peak awards.

Keira’s mother, Nicole Elliott, earned her Queen’s Guide award in 1994. Nicole was a member since age 7, now also having volunteered in the Caloundra District as an adult leader, manager and volunteer for over 15 years.
