Congratulations to Dakoda, who represented Queensland at the 2026 Touch Football National Youth Championships in Coffs Harbour.

The Queensland boys remained undefeated throughout the tournament, winning every match on their way to being crowned National Champions. Well done, Dakoda!

Over the school holidays, a group of our First Nations students had the wonderful opportunity to work alongside local First Nations artist Kylie Hill to create a beautiful and meaningful mural at our Gowan Campus.

The artwork tells the story of Stretton State College as a place of learning, belonging and connection — where every jarjum, family, staff member and community member brings their own story, knowledge and strengths. Together, these individual journeys create one strong and connected school community.

“With Purpose and Spirit – Our Journey Together” celebrates Stretton State College as more than a place of education. It is a meeting place of people, cultures, stories and knowledge — where we come together, learn from one another and create strong pathways for generations to come.

Congratulations to our Open Boys Basketball team on winning Bronze at the CBSQ Tournament on the Gold Coast.

In just our second year in the competition, the team’s Division 5 result earns promotion to Division 4 in 2027.

A huge thank you to our coaches for supporting our students throughout the tournament. Well done, team!

Last Thursday, our Illaweena Campus community came together to put the message of R U OK? Day into action - checking in with each other, connecting and taking the time to ask how someone is going. It was wonderful to see our students and staff getting involved throughout the day, with plenty of smiles, support and positive moments shared across the College.

A special shout-out to our Year 11 Certificate II class, who put their skills into practice by preparing a delicious R U OK? Day gourmet lunchbox for staff. From tea sandwiches and fresh salads to sweet treats and iced tea, they certainly knew how to make the day extra special! Thank you to everyone who helped make today a meaningful reminder that a simple check-in can make a difference.

Building on our success at the Queensland All Schools OzTag Championships, our Senior Girls and Boys were invited to compete at the International Schools Championships in Parramatta, alongside teams from Samoa, New Zealand, North Queensland, Melbourne and New South Wales.

Our Senior Girls faced a tough pool and gained valuable experience, with several students playing OzTag for the first time.

Our Senior Boys were dominant in the regular rounds, finishing top of their pool with 3 wins and 1 draw. Unfortunately, they narrowly went down to Patrician Brothers College, Blacktown in the knockout stage. The eventual champions, Central Coast Sports High, had drawn with our boys in the regular rounds.

Congratulations to all students and staff on an amazing experience, valuable lessons and memories that will last a lifetime. Bring on 2027!
