Every drawing completed is a celebration in my eyes. This beautiful portrait (of me) has been created by my Creative Identity Transformation client - Amanda Schroder.
It takes confidence, self-belief, dedication and quiet gentle skill development to get to this level in just 10 lessons (so far) Amanda is almost finished her 12 week course. From a complete beginner just 10 weeks ago to this level is absolutely worthy of a celebration. Well done Amanda! I'm so happy for you.
Amanda hasn't just drawn a wonderful portrait that looks like me, she's learned a process that she can now repeat over and over again for so many other portraits. Who knows where she'll take that new skill.
It could be you next. Do you dare to step over the line and make that bold decision to finally learn to draw once and for all? I'm the one to help you. Even if you feel scared, even if you don't believe it will work for you. Talk to me send me a DM.
Please join me in congratulating Amanda on her success here.

I'm always in awe of the incredible transformations that my clients make from beginner to realistic portrait. There is so much joy and pleasure in sharing another example of this wonderful journey with you again today.
Jana Walsh came to me a few years ago and has had some prior training with me. Her portrait on the left shows her skill level before starting my 'Creative Identity Transformation' and shows that she was clearly not a complete beginner to drawing.
However, over time we can often suppress our drawing skills and need to refresh the foundations. So Jana recently enrolled into my 'Creative Identity Transformation' 12 week intensive course to refresh and further refine her skills. You can see the exciting results here with her stunning self portrait on the right. Well done Jana!
No matter what level my clients come to me at; total beginner 'I can't draw a stick figure' level, or intermediate levels...they all develop their skills to a new level.
But... its not even about that transition from can't draw to absolutely can (which is fabulous in itself.)
Its far more than that.
Its about the personal self-development journey that subtly takes place. The transition that occurs deep within the soul - the release, the new belief system that develops within her, when drawing becomes a carriage into a new identity.
She is transformed, forever.
This is what Jana Walsh has to say about her journey with my 12 week 'Creative Identity Transformation' course.
"My ability to draw, I believe has always been there. The want, the desire definitely stronger at times over the years.
The walls that have kept me from really reaching into my capability to learn and grow, monumental.
Self imposed creative blocks both internally and externally fed.
Charcoal takes away absolute control as a medium. Letting go of how fine my markings can be with graphite in comparison. Charcoal allowed me to learn to play again. The ability to push and pull to tease what I wanted to see on the page without the expectation of perfection.
Charcoal is a very expressive medium. For myself and where I am currently in my life, I found this to be calming. Throughout this course, I was able to show up at the table in small chunks of time, working to finish artworks consistently."

This beautiful texture was created in charcoal by Kristin Maria Schmiedlin from my Creative Identity Transformation course.
Kristin wasn't just learning how to draw a realistic wooden fence here, she was developing valuable skills ready to draw hair. Yes. Hair. She now has the exact skills she needs to draw all different hairstyles; the fine line application, the observation, the clumping of indivicual areas...its all the same skill used for drawing realistic hair
You see, I could have given Kristin (and all of my course participants) a project specifically of hair to do (which is presented a little later in the course) but I know that the logical brain would go straight into panic mode 'I can't draw hair, why do I want to draw hair any way?' many different questions pop up in a spirally conversation of doubts, fears, anxieties and more.
Why is this so? This happens because our very helpful logical brain likes to immediately name things. It's for our basic survival after all. So how do we draw on demand and overcome the logical reasoning voice? Give it a task to do that its interested in and not threatened by.
Great work Kristin, you've shown so much control over the medium here, in such a short space of time.

It gives me great pleasure today to share this charcoal portrait drawing created by Jana Walsh who is a client of mine travelling through my 12 week Creative Identity Transformation.
Jana's task was to draw a portrait of me (with my hair tied back to reveal only the face) and she has created a wonderful likeness. This portrait proves to Jana that she can indeed draw. Now she's ready to create her own self-portrait and many others as well, using this exact same process.
What a fabulous outcome in just 9 lessons. Well done Jana!

Look at this adorable cute soft toy - Kenny Koala that Kristin Maria Schmiedlin has drawn from my Creative Identity Transformation Course.
Just a few short months ago, Kristin came to me as a beginner to drawing as an adult.
But here's what happened: Because drawing isn't about talent - it's about using comparison skills she already had - she discovered she could actually do this.
And you know what else? Charcoal became the carriage to release her creativity, so something far deeper shifted inside of her. Not just her drawing ability. Her whole sense of what's possible.
This is what creative identity transformation looks like.
If you're asking yourself "Who am I now? What could I do if I gave myself permission to do what I've been dreaming of all my life....but haven't yet?" - let's chat, because drawing is just your carriage to take you over that bridge into 'what else can I do if I can learn to draw?'
This is not about enrolling into a hobby art class. This is Creativity Coaching combined with Art Therapy that has the ability to unlock those hidden places inside you that you never knew were there.
You believed you couldn't. What happens when suddenly believe you can?
Find out more about my Creative Identity Transformation™ Course course starting in February. It's 12 weeks of personal one-to-one coaching with me.
Send me a direct message if you'd like to book a no-obligation complimentary discovery call.

Portraiture is one of the most beautiful subjects to draw. This stunning charcoal portrait was created by my mentored student Ann Lowden Wilson of her late father. Ann is using charcoal with erasing techniques and blending.
I really admire how she has captured the softness of an old black and white photo here, the expression on his face is beautifully created. Well done Ann!
Artist: Ann Lowden Wilson
Medium: Derwent charcoal pencils on Paper; Strathmore Bristol Vellum series 300 270g 9"x12" (but cut to A4 size)
Title: 'Peter 1953' - my father (Peter Lowden) taking a break at a work camp in Finland, Summer 1953.

Let's celebrate another adorable Kenny Koala created this time by Katya Yanovich from my Creative Identity Transformation ™ Course.
Katya is also a long-standing mentored student of mine who has been studying realism in my Complete Online Drawing Course and then many different subjects after that course.
My Creative Identity Transformation™ course is perfect for realism artists who feel a calling to re-ignite a more creative form of self-expression with drawing.
With that creative self expression, it brings a new vigour, excitement and desire to just show up and draw. It helps us to relax, unwind and just enjoy the whole drawing process in a new way.
Well done Katya, I'm so happy to see this refreshing, expressive creative work from you. You're doing great in my this new course.
