Thank you to Redge Brimm of Djabugay country Cairns, for making this deadly fire stick 🔥 for Our Cultural Conversations. This handmade artifact will be used for cultural education workshops. This fire stick is made from natural materials such as coastal hibiscus stems, grass tree stems, gidi gidi red seeds. 🔥🔥🔥🙏🙌👌

🎨 A Lasting Celebration of Culture 🎨

We are incredibly proud to unveil our newest collaborative artwork, created in June 2026 by the children of QT's Early Learning Centre alongside Jason from Our Cultural Conversations.

This vibrant piece is a celebration of Country, culture and community, with every child contributing their own unique ideas and artistic expression. Through this project, the children explored Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, learning about the importance of storytelling, connection to Country, native animals and the natural environment.

Working together on such a large-scale artwork encouraged creativity, teamwork and a sense of belonging, while helping to foster respect and appreciation for Australia's rich First Nations cultures.

This beautiful piece now has pride of place at our centre, serving as a daily reminder of the meaningful learning experiences we share and the importance of embracing culture in everything we do.

A huge thank you to Jason from Our Cultural Conversations for sharing his knowledge, passion and guidance throughout this special project. We are so grateful for the opportunity to learn together.

It's always a great day at NAIDOC in the Park Cairns. Thousands of people over the course of the day catching up with family and friends, tourists passing through experiencing culture. As a stall holder it's great to see all the hard work the NAIDOC Community has done over the last 12 months 🙌🙏👏🔥🎉

Our Cultural Conversations would like to thank Holy Cross School Trinity Park for inviting us to deliver a Collaborative Art Activity with your students. Over sixty students decorated a 3m x 2m canvas that will be displayed at the school. It's great seeing the various designs and colour choices used. The best part is seeing all the students look at their finished work 👀👍☺️👌🖌🕺

Our Cultural Conversations would like to thank YHA Cairns Central for inviting us back again to deliver a cultural interactive presentation with your guests and staff. Everyone who visits Australia and also calls Australia home, should have the opportunity to learn about Indigenous Australia and even just a small snapshot of the history of this country. Only through understanding each other can we move forward together. 🙏

It was great to see the enthusiasm from the children and the crowd interaction. It's great to see the reaction of the children who hear the didgeridoo for the first time! 😲

Our Cultural Conversations would like to thank QT's Early Learning Centre Mareeba for inviting us to deliver a Didgeridoo Presentation and a Collaborative Artwork with the children and staff. It was great providing a cultural experience to the children in rural areas who might not get these opportunities often. We look forward to visiting again in the future!
