πΎπ BDSSS RESPECT ROUND | TENNIS ππΎ
Respect Round continues this week!
This Wednesday, 26 August, BDSSS Respect Round shines the spotlight on Tennis, as schools across the Bundaberg District come together to promote the importance of respect, inclusion, equality and positive relationships.
While Kepnock SHS isnβt participating in this weekβs Tennis competition, weβre proud to support the message behind Respect Round and encourage our students and wider community to carry these values with them every day.
Because respect isnβt just for the sporting field β itβs how we treat others, wherever we are. π

π Set a high standard. Make a difference. π
Setting a high standard for yourself isn't about looking down on other people.
It's about being clear with yourself and everyone else about:
π How you deserve to be treated
π€ How you'll treat others
πͺ How you'll respond when someone else isn't being treated well

π§ Fast Facts with Nurse Retha | August
This month, Nurse Retha is sharing some fast facts about mental health.
Our mental health is an important part of our overall health and wellbeing. Just like our physical health, it can change over time and can be affected by what is happening around us, including stress, relationships, school, friendships and life experiences.
π Everyone has mental health.
Mental health is about how we think, feel and cope with everyday life. Having good mental health doesn't mean feeling happy all the time β it means having the skills, support and strategies to manage the ups and downs that life can bring.
π£οΈ Talking can help.
Sometimes, talking to someone we trust can make things feel more manageable. This might be a friend, family member, teacher, school support staff or Nurse Retha.
π Small actions can have a big impact.
A kind word, checking in with someone, including others and choosing respectful behaviour can all contribute to a positive environment. We may not always know what someone else is going through, so kindness matters.
π€ It's okay to ask for help.
If something doesn't feel right, you don't have to deal with it on your own. Reaching out for support is a strength, not a weakness.
π
Bullying No Way Week | 17β21 August 2026
This year's theme, Small Acts, Big Impact, reminds us that even small choices can make a difference to how others feel. Showing kindness, speaking up, checking in and treating others with respect can all help create a safer and more supportive school community.
π Look out for yourself. Look out for each other.
Keep an eye out each month for more Fast Facts with Nurse Retha! π©Ί

π¨ BULLYING NO WAY! COLOUR RUN π
Yesterday, Kepnock SHS was bursting with colour as our students and staff came together for our Bullying No Way! Colour Run as part of Bullying No Way Week! πππβ€οΈ
It was a fantastic afternoon filled with plenty of colour, laughter and fun, while sharing an important message about creating a school community where everyone feels safe, valued and supported.
This yearβs theme, βSmall Acts, Big Impact!β, reminds us that even the smallest acts of kindness, inclusion and respect can make a huge difference to someoneβs day.
A massive thank you to all of our students and staff who got involved, embraced the colour and helped make the afternoon such a great success! ππ

πΈ Hands-On Learning in Early Childhood Studies π¨
During Term 3, our Year 12 Early Childhood Studies students have been putting their learning into practice as part of their Children's Wellbeing unit.
Recently, students designed and facilitated a Flower Bouquet Stamp Painting activity for children aged 3β6 years. Using everyday objects as painting tools, they explored how creative play can support children's development, including fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, colour recognition and creativity. πΌποΈ
These practical experiences give our students the opportunity to connect classroom theory with real-world practice while developing valuable skills for future pathways in early childhood education, childcare, teaching and community services.
A wonderful example of learning through creativity, play and hands-on experience! π
