Rhythm and Soul for Refugees is an event to bring together the community for an afternoon of dancing

Rhythm and Soul for Refugees is an event to bring together the community for an afternoon of dancing and fun in support of asylum seekers. This is an all ages, volunteer run event and all proceeds will go to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. The ASRC relies largely on public donations and volunteer support in order to make a difference for thousands of our community's most vulnerable members. Jus

Sunday was absolute magic and we managed to raise $1061 for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) who are doing such important work. Thanks to all of those who came and enjoyed the band, the food and the glorious weather!

As well as having awesome acts on in the band room, we're also really looking forward to the goings-on in the atrium. Coffee Supreme AU and St David Dairy are donating everything to ensure you get the best cup of coffee Melbourne can provide on a Sunday afternoon. On top of this we will have an assortment of other drinks, fruit, biscuits and snacks donated by the legends at Mediterranean Wholesalers and Gangemis Fruit Shop. Also, Greg and Jack will be playing intricate guitar duos in the atrium as you arrive to liven up the atmosphere. All of this is complimentary with your ticket!

The ASRC are one of the only organisations in Australia that have lawyers specialised in filling out these humongous applications. What amazing work they are doing!

Come along on Sunday for a fun afternoon to help support them, Don't forget to purchase you're tickets here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/rhythm-and-soul-for-refugees-tickets-34098448377?aff=es2

The actual application have to complete by October 1. 41 pages, 116 questions and only in English. You also have to attach a detailed statement of every experience of torture, r**e, war and trauma they've experienced, again only in English.

Can't read or write English? Bad luck. No interpreters or translation will be provided to you.

It's not just a form it's what will possibly decide whether you live or die. We've almost 1,000 people right now whose applications our lawyers need to complete by October 1.

Help us with housing, food and mental health support while our lawyers fight to protect their human rights.
