At The Village, our mud kitchen is truly a cornerstone of early learning 🌿
It’s a space where children are free to explore, create, and imagine without limits. Using natural materials like water, seeds, flower petals, and leaves, children mix, pour, crush, and experiment in their own unique ways.
Whether they are filling large bowls with “soups,” grinding petals with mortars and pestles, or simply discovering what happens when materials combine, children are fully engaged in rich sensory learning experiences.
Through this type of play, they are strengthening their fine motor skills, building hand strength, and developing coordination. Just as importantly, they are using their senses to investigate the world around them, sparking curiosity and deep engagement.
The mud kitchen also naturally invites collaboration. Children share tools, exchange ideas, and engage in early social interactions as they play side by side. These open-ended experiences encourage communication, creativity, problem-solving, and imagination.
In moments like these, learning is not directed—it is discovered. And that is the beauty of play. 🌱

✨ Reconciliation Week: Coming Full Circle ✨
What an absolute honour it was to welcome a wonderful Aboriginal cultural presenter into our outdoor environment today 🌿🖤💛❤️
Through music, movement, storytelling, and interactive experiences, he brought his rich heritage and culture to life in such a meaningful and child-friendly way. From start to finish, the children were completely captivated — their smiles, curiosity, dancing, and engagement filled the space with joy and respect. 🥁✨
Experiences like these help children develop a deeper understanding of Aboriginal culture, connection to Country, and the importance of listening to and learning from First Nations voices.
As we celebrate Reconciliation Week, we continue to reflect on the meaning of “Coming Full Circle” — strengthening relationships, respect, and shared understanding for future generations. 🌏
We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to provide authentic cultural experiences that inspire curiosity, empathy, and belonging within our learning community. 🌟
🌧️ Rainy days bring some of the best learning opportunities!
Today, the children were fascinated by the puddles and muddy water pools created by the rain. What started as joyful splashing quickly turned into meaningful learning as the children explored water pressure, movement, and cause-and-effect through play. 💦🪣
The children experimented with pouring, stomping, transporting water, and watching how the muddy puddles changed shape and direction. These moments encouraged problem-solving, scientific thinking, teamwork, and discussions about caring for our environment and respecting nature. 🌱
Outdoor play in all kinds of weather supports children to become confident, capable learners while developing resilience, curiosity, and a deep connection with the natural world. ☔🤎
🪵 Natural Pigments & Aboriginal Cultural Connections 🎨
Today, the children explored the beauty of natural pigments while learning about Aboriginal culture, storytelling, and connection to Country. Using earthy colours inspired by nature, the children engaged in creative experiences that encouraged curiosity, respect, and appreciation for the world around them. 🌿
Through this hands-on experience, we discussed how Aboriginal peoples have traditionally used natural materials such as ochre, charcoal, clay, and plants to create art, share stories, and express cultural identity for thousands of years.
The children were invited to explore textures, colours, and mark-making in their own unique ways, fostering creativity, sensory exploration, and meaningful conversations about culture and belonging. ❤️💛🖤
At our centre, we believe in creating opportunities for children to develop respect for First Nations cultures and to understand the importance of caring for the land we all share. 🌏
⚽️🌟 Mini Marvels in action at The Village Creative Education! 🌟⚽️
Today was all about sports, teamwork, and BIG smiles with Coach Luke and Coach Jill 🙌💛
Our little legends learned awesome soccer skills — from dribbling like pros to scoring amazing goals! 🥅🔥
We also had loads of fun playing tug of war 💪😄 and cheering each other on every step of the way!
To top it all off, everyone earned their favourite stamps ⭐️🎉 — such a great way to celebrate a fantastic session!
We’re so proud of our Mini Marvels and their growing confidence, teamwork, and skills 🌈👏
🐞🌿 A Handmade Bug Hotel for Our Little Explorers! 🌿🐞
Nature Week at the Village came to life in the most beautiful way as the children created their very own bug hotel—a cozy, safe space for our tiny garden friends.
As they explored, we talked about how bugs help our environment—pollinating plants, breaking down organic matter, and keeping our gardens healthy. It was a powerful way to connect our learning to real life and nurture a genuine love for the natural world.
This simple yet meaningful activity reflects our commitment to sustainability and to helping children understand that every living thing has a place and a purpose 🌏💚
This is more than just a painting… it is a joyful moment of discovery, a playful symphony of splashes created by little hands and big curiosity. As the children spin the bike wheel, they watch in wonder as colours dance, mix, and fly outward, turning a simple action into something magical. Every turn brings excitement—“What will happen next?”—and each layer tells the story of their laughter, their choices, and their sense of adventure.
What may look like chaos is actually rich with learning. The children are exploring cause and effect, noticing how faster or slower spins change the patterns, how colours blend, and how movement creates something entirely new. They are not just painting—they are experimenting, predicting, and expressing themselves in a way that feels free and empowering.
There is also something deeply meaningful in the shared experience. Children gather around, take turns, cheer each other on, and celebrate the unexpected outcomes together. It becomes a moment of connection, where creativity is not about getting it “right,” but about being involved, curious, and brave enough to try.
This experience reminds us that art in early childhood doesn’t need to be neat or controlled. It lives in the process—in the spinning, the splashing, the giggles, and the wide eyes. Sometimes, all it takes is a wheel, a bit of paint, and a sense of wonder to create something truly special.
This Monday, our Mini Marvels had an action-packed session as we focused on developing our hockey skills!
💪 We started by learning how to safely and correctly sweep the hockey stick, building confidence and coordination while having lots of fun. 😊
The children then put their new skills into practice by aiming and hitting the ball into the net 🥅—there were some fantastic goals scored and plenty of cheers all around! 🎉
To keep the energy high, we mixed things up with some exciting group games, including our colourful parachute play 🌈. The kids worked together, practiced teamwork, and shared lots of giggles as the parachute floated up and down!
It was wonderful to see everyone giving things a go, supporting their friends, and growing their skills in such a positive environment. 🌟 We’re so proud of our Mini Marvels!
We can’t wait to see what next week brings! 💙
Learning unfolds through relationships, where knowledge is shared, shaped and deepened together.
As we explore the natural world, we slow down to notice, question and connect with the environments around us.
Through experiencing our community, children build an understanding of their role within it. In this way learning is co-constructed, emerging through collaboration, curiosity, and meaningful connections with people, place and Country. At the Village Creative Education we see the importance of children exploring the local community and acknowledge how lucky we are to explore our very own waterfall right on our doorstep.

🎨 The Language of Splatter: Exploring Expression Through Movement 🖌️✨
In our Reggio-inspired environment, we believe every child expresses themselves through a “hundred languages” — unique ways of exploring, communicating, and making sense of the world 🌍💫
Today, that language came alive through vibrant colours and energetic movement: splatter painting! 🌈
What may look like “just a mess” is actually rich, meaningful learning in action The children became little researchers — exploring force, motion, and cause and effect From the strength of their arm to the direction of the paint, every movement was intentional.
They made thoughtful choices about colour, layering, and space — all while fully immersed in the joy of the process.
By letting go of the pressure to “create a perfect picture,” we open the door for curiosity, creativity, and authentic expression to lead the way.
In these beautifully messy moments, we truly see the child as capable, creative, and confident — the protagonist of their own learning journey 🧒👧🌟🙌
