Russell Island … we are coming back to deliver EmpowerHer our signature event first delivered in 2025. Get Ready young women of the SMBI for an incredible leadership and workshop experience.

Congratulations to Women of Trades & Industry on receiving $9,000 through the Empowering Her Grant! ✨

Women of Trades & Industry supports young women to explore careers in the trades by providing practical advice on apprenticeships, resumes, interviews and building industry connections.

This funding will help them continue creating real pathways into industries such as plumbing, cabinet making and other skilled trades. 👏

✨ Women of Trades & Industry – Supporting Future Pathways ✨

Women iof Trades & Industry recently had the opportunity to connect with a fantastic group of students from various schools around the Redlands, sharing practical guidance on how to get started in an apprenticeship.

The session covered key topics including building effective resumes, preparing for interviews, making industry connections, and understanding where to begin within the trades. There was also valuable discussion around the role of AI how it can be a helpful tool when used appropriately, and where it should not replace genuine effort and authenticity (great pic)

A special thank you to Paige and Madison for contributing industry insights into cabinet making and plumbing, and helping provide real world perspective to the discussion.

Women of Trades & Industry also acknowledges Millar’s Plumbing for their support, which helps make initiatives like this possible.

It’s encouraging to see such strong interest from the next generation exploring careers in the trades.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED 🧡

We’re firing up the grill for our Women of Trades + Industry Bunnings BBQ at Capalaba on Saturday 13 June, 7:30am–4pm, and we’d love your help!

We’re looking for volunteers to help with things like setting up, cooking and serving sausages, handling drinks, and packing down. Even a 1–2 hour shift makes a huge difference and helps us raise funds to support women in trades, rese, job search and workplace skills.

If you’re keen to jump in, comment “I’m in” below or send us a message with the times you’re available and we’ll pop you on the roster. Please share this post with your friends, family, workmates or apprentices who might like to lend a hand too.
