19 years ago I started on my scaly adventure.
19 years of advocacy, education, and love for our snakes, and helping people understand our snakes.
As some of you know, and some of you don't, my health has been somewhat challenging these last few years, including developing anaphylaxis to jackjumpers and bees last year.
This year, the year of the Snake, I'm closing my company and all but ceasing activities. I'll still be looking after injured snakes and doing fear reduction with people as needed. Perhaps some call outs when I can, but I'm unable to physically continue educational displays which are my heart and soul. I'm in the process of putting My Dad Thinks Snakes are Scary onto ebook platforms to make it even more accessible.
It's not a decision that has come easily. I've had a remarkable 19 years and have met beautiful people and remarkable snakes that have fundamentally changed who I am, and how I live. I've done things I never would have had the opportunity to do without these truly incredible creatures front and center.
I'm not saying never again.
I am saying I need to get my health back on track.
Words can't truly convey how much I love and appreciate every single person, and every single snake that I've had the honour to make a difference with.
And a bottom of my heart Thankyou to those who have been by my side and yes, offside, during this journey. I wouldn't be the person I am today without you.
