Northern Beaches to Southern Highlands: Why I’m Bringing Outdoor Strength Training to Bowral 05/02/2026

Now taking on a few in-person clients in the Southern Highlands!

Following the closure of my Northern Beaches strength training studio to move overseas (which took an unexpected turn), I’m back to in-person 1-on-1 coaching — now in Bowral.

As I complete my Master’s degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology, my approach to using strength training for improving Individual's quality of life is evolving.

The way exercise functions as medicine fascinates me, and it has encouraged me to pivot back to an outdoor training service with a special interest in working with those who are navigating the "in-between" phase after rehab or chronic health challenges and aren't quite ready for the standard personal training/gym/fitness approach and environment.

If you're looking for this kind of approach or know someone who may be, I'd love to chat!

Northern Beaches to Southern Highlands: Why I’m Bringing Outdoor Strength Training to Bowral While completing my Master’s in Clinical Exercise Physiology, I’m shifting my focus to outdoor strength training (In Bowral) to leverage the restorative physiological benefits of 'green exercise'.

Moving ahead and moving online

A big thank you to everyone I worked with while I was in the northern beaches! I appreciated the opportunity to guide you in your health and fitness endeavours and I hope it has positively changed how you approach this area of your life.

Due to a move and plans for future studies, I have taken my services entirely online for now!

“…the current data demonstrate that those low in perceived stress returned to baseline several times faster than those reporting high levels of stress” (Stults-Kolehmainen et al., 2014)

It’s probably obvious that your levels of stress are going to significantly impact how well you recover from training and thus the results you see.

Stress is inevitable (and important).

There are different ways you can approach these stressors to ensure you’re still getting the most out of your training and feeling good:

• Autoregulate your training: Having minimum through to maximum intensity/volume days planned and performing them based on stress levels and how you feel. (To create your own: Read “Always stopping and starting your training” blog post)

•Including more stress mitigation activities: Whatever helps you relax and feel happy (more important than specific recovery modalities) (also preferably not with various substances)

•Stress inoculation? This is a form of cognitive behavioural therapy, but how stressful you perceive something can dictate how much you’re emotionally and physically affected by the stressor. If the stressors are perceived as useful and beneficial (like the stress experienced during a tough training session), you’ll have a greater capacity for stressors and recover better.
