✨ 2026 Vision & Values Evening | Shaping Success

What an inspiring evening bringing together generations of the Balwyn High School community to reflect on the capabilities, choices and experiences that shape who we become beyond the school gates.

We were privileged to welcome back alumnus Lee Simon, whose keynote took us through an extraordinary career spanning music, television and radio. Lee reflected with warmth and humility on his own schooling, the teachers who influenced him, the lessons he carried throughout his career, and his enduring pride in Balwyn High School—including the special significance of seeing his own children continue that connection.

Alongside Lee, our diverse alumni panel shared pathways across technology, law, policing, media, business, health, community leadership and further study. Their stories were different, but the messages were remarkably consistent: embrace opportunities, learn from setbacks, invest in relationships, remain curious and continue to grow.

Most importantly, the evening brought our Balwyn High School Graduate Profile to life. Communication, collaboration, critical and creative thinking, character strength, commitment to excellence and continuous learning are not simply capabilities for success at school—they help shape employability, leadership, character and the contribution we make to our communities and society.

Thank you to Lee and all of our alumni for returning to Balwyn and sharing their stories with such honesty and thoughtfulness, and to our students, families and staff who joined us for this special evening.

Different pathways. Shared capabilities. A lifelong connection to Balwyn. 🦁

✨ What shapes success?

Is it the subjects we choose? The careers we pursue? Or is it the character we develop and the choices we make along the way?

Join us for the 2026 Balwyn High School Vision and Values Evening, where we are delighted to welcome back Balwyn High School alumnus Lee Simon.

Lee is a respected media executive, broadcaster and entrepreneur whose career has spanned television, radio, live events and major sporting organisations. From interviewing some of the world’s biggest names in entertainment and sport to leading high-profile media and commercial initiatives, Lee’s journey reflects the power of curiosity, resilience, communication and lifelong learning.

Joining Lee will be a distinguished panel of Balwyn High School alumni, who will share the diverse pathways they have pursued since leaving school, the challenges they have overcome and the lessons they have learned along the way.

Together, our alumni will explore how the capabilities of the Balwyn High School Graduate Profile - communication, collaboration, critical and creative thinking, character strength, commitment to excellence and continuous learning, have shaped their decisions, influenced their careers and empowered them to make meaningful contributions to their professions, communities and society.

Whether you’re a current student, parent, former student or member of our wider community, this promises to be an evening of inspiration, reflection and conversation about what it truly means to build a successful and meaningful life.
