FRESH FADES GRADUATION

This week, students Daimon and Xavier graduated from their 6 week identified barbering course hosted at Lake Macquarie High School - Official.

The program was organised and funded by Bindi Floook at Lake Macquarie City Council, and gave participants the opportunity to learn basic barbering skills from a qualified barber.

As part of their graduation, students put their skills to the test cutting by a number of volunteers hair (including Mr Maher).

A big thank you must go to the team from Community Hair Project for giving our student their time, patience and expertise.

CONTENT CREATION WORKSHOP

This week several Year 10 students participated in a content creation work shop presented by Steph from Aceglav Creative Media and Media for Millennials. The program incorporated a range photography, film, advertising and digital media skills to give the students an insight into content creation.

Student created their own advertisement using a range of resources, props and digital techniques. Cass Wells from the Lake Macquarie EPP group also presented on pathways within the industry.

Also, a big thanks to HT English Miss Liddell for supporting our students within the workshop.

Career pathways that attract healthy income are not exclusive to uni graduates.

CRIMINOLOGY WORKSHOP 🕵️‍♂️

As part of National Skills Week, Lake Macquarie High School - Official students from Years 9–11 joined EPP Lake Macquarie for an exciting Criminology Workshop Day delivered by Luke from Crime Story.

Students got hands-on with interactive crime scene investigations, developing skills in:

- Observation
- Problem-solving
- Communication and
- Teamwork

Students also explored post-school pathways and university degrees through a presentation from the The University of Newcastle, Australia.

Also, a big thank you to Ms Lalor for supporting out students on the day.
