We have spent the last few months winding up our operations to officially dissolve the Kambora Public School P&C Association now the school is in recess. Part of that process was distributing our funds to kindred organisations. We chose to split our remaining funds with the public schools our Kambora kids have moved to; including Mimosa, Belrose, Wakehurst, Forestville and Frenchs Forest.

It was so nice to hear this week that Wakehurst PS P&C used their money to purchase new basketball hoops and have dedicated them to Kambora PS. Thank you Wakehurst Public School P&C, a lovely gesture that brought a tear to our eyes. 🥰

*Second Hand Uniforms*

As we move closer to the end of the year, we’ve received a large number of second-hand uniform donations and have now reached the point where we can’t accept any more items.
Unfortunately, many of the recent donations have included clothing that isn’t suitable for reuse or isn’t school-related, which has made it difficult to manage the space while we pack up stock.

We’ll continue to hold onto any uniform pieces with the school logo, as we may be able to recycle these in the future. Non-logo items can be placed in a local charity bin instead.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we finalise the last of our uniform stock.

*Kambora Public School P&C Update*

It is with a heavy heart we share that the Department of Education has today informed us that Kambora Public School will go into recess from the beginning of Term 1 2026.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed to the consultation and supported our school during this time. Your involvement showed the strength of community and how much Kambora means to so many families. It’s been a tough time and our children deserved better.

As we move towards this transition, the P&C will continue to work closely with the school to ensure families & staff are supported and the community is kept informed of next steps.

Thank you again for your ongoing support of our beautiful bush school!

Kambora on the national stage! 📺🌿

We made it onto ABC’s 7:30 tonight. Our story aired nationally, and it was powerful.

Kambora’s uniqueness really shone through: The warmth, the heart, the community spirit, the bushland beauty. All of it. 💚

Let’s hope this is the moment that finally puts Kambora where it deserves to be… on the local school map, loud and clear. 🗺️📍

It’s been a long time coming, and to be honest, it felt pretty special seeing our little school get the spotlight it deserves. ✨

🌱 Kambora Update: We’re Building Something Beautiful

We closed out Term 2 with a powerful Aboriginal smoking ceremony on Kambora Public School grounds: A sacred tradition to cleanse the space, release negative energy and make way for healing, clarity and fresh beginnings. It was a meaningful way to reflect on where we’ve been, and to step into Term 3 with positive focus and purpose.
💪 Thanks to the incredible response from families, the hundreds of heartfelt submissions, and a really constructive visit from the Deputy Secretary, things are moving in a positive direction. We’re standing on firmer ground.
And now, we’re looking forward.

✨ What’s being explored at Kambora?
âś” An on-site preschool
âś” A tailored transition class
âś” A dedicated OC
âś” Outdoor classroom spaces
âś” Weekly community markets
… and more.
đź’š Kambora is one of a kind.
We’re a mainstream public school offering the kind of one-on-one support, wraparound care and deeply nurturing environment most families only find in private settings.
It’s thoughtful, personalised, a bit Montessori, a bit holistic and no private school fees in sight. The Department has confirmed a decision will be made in Term 3. That’s a step forward, but the delay still creates challenges, especially when it comes to enrolling our 2026 Kindergarten group. Families need clarity. And so do we.

Still, we’re staying focused. Planning ahead. Continuing to do what we do best: creating a place where children feel known, supported and excited to learn.

Kambora’s story is still being written. It’s one of resilience, imagination and community.
And it’s one worth standing up for. ❤️

Kambora is currently part of a Department-led consultation process. And while that’s raised a few questions, let’s clear one thing up straight away. The school is NOT closing. The Department said so themselves.

The absolute worst-case being explored is a possible recess period, and even that is just one of several options on the table. Honestly, we’re feeling more hopeful now than we were even a few weeks ago.

💪 Thanks to the incredible response from families, the hundreds of heartfelt submissions, and a really constructive visit from the Deputy Secretary, things are moving in a positive direction. We’re standing on firmer ground.

💬 The visit from the Deputy Secretay made a real impact. She was approachable, thoughtful and clearly passionate about public education. Her genuine care for our kids and our community gave us something we’d been missing… Faith that a collaborative, respectful relationship with the Department is not only possible, it’s something worth building on.

And now, we’re looking forward.

This isn’t just about keeping something going. It’s about reimagining what a public school can be, and what Kambora already is.
