A little pause for Beneath the Mulberry Tree

I’ve decided to take a little bit of time to step back and reevaluate Beneath the Mulberry Tree.

There’s been a lot happening, and I’m giving myself some space to work out what I want the business to look like moving forward.

This isn’t an ending, just a little breathing space.

I’ll still be around! I’ll be doing a few markets, running some workshops and continuing to make my botanical, herbal, garden and witchy goods, including nature jewellery. I’ll share dates and events as they come together.

I’ll also still be at Rosewall this term on Tuesday mornings, continuing to share gardening, growing and nature-based workshops.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Beneath the Mulberry Tree, come along to a workshop, visited a market stall or simply followed along. I really appreciate you being here.

For now, I’m taking a breath, having a rethink and seeing what wants to grow next.

As is the way with all of life, nothing lasts and seasons change.

Those who care deeply about connecting with land and community understand that the rhythms of creation, abundance, dormancy and rebirth are intrinsic to existence. Just as in nature, a season is closing for Earth Mammas, making way for the season to come.

Sadly, our time at the Scotchmans Road Spell Garden site has come to an end, a season we had hoped would last a little while longer, but alas, life finds a way. Such are the cards life dealt our beautiful little community this time round.

We want to take a moment to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been part of this chapter. To all the crew at Spell Garden, thank you for welcoming us, working alongside us and helping create a space where community, nature and connection could flourish. To everyone who came along, supported us, attended our workshops, shared a cuppa, wandered through the garden, volunteered, spread the word or simply cheered us on......thank you. You helped make this little corner of the world something truly special.

And, of course, we offer our deepest gratitude to the land itself. We have had the privilege of working, learning and gathering on Wadawurrung Country, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to spend this season in relationship with this place. We honour the land, its ongoing story and the care and knowledge that has been held here for generations. We will carry the lessons and memories from this place with us into whatever comes next.

While this chapter is closing, it doesn't mean the story is over.

This shift means brighter opportunities are on the horizon for the Earth Mammas, and the nature practitioners within us will always welcome new chances to learn, grow and explore what it means to be deeply connected to Earth and community.

We look forward to sharing with you what our next chapter looks like, and how it will unfold.

Until then, stay tuned for all the other ways we'll continue finding meaning, magic and connection in our journey over the coming months to come.

Having a registered kitchen onsite will allow us to commence community meals, it will allow us to preserve excess produce and will allow us to offer workshops to the community.

So we are asking you to buy a herb bowl from us, so we can raise the funds doing what we love, and you get some herbal joy in return for your support.

How will this work?

Simply DM our page with 4 herbs you would love to have growing in your herb bowl. We will let you know when it is ready to collect.

F**k, the last six weeks have been intense in our house, and we're still not fully recovered.

When you have kids at school, even part-time, it feels inevitable that they're going to bring home some kind of illness. This year's strain of influenza has been a brutal one, and it has definitely made its way through our household.

I know I share a lot about herbal medicine and the plants I work with, but I also think it's really important to say this: using herbal medicine doesn't mean completely disregarding modern medicine.

Just like herbal knowledge, it's important to have an understanding of modern medicines too. In many cases, the two can work alongside each other—but it's also important to remember that some plants and herbal preparations can interact with certain medications.

Over this flu season, we've been using various teas and tinctures to support us, while also using medicines such as paracetamol and ibuprofen when appropriate. For me, the key is finding a balance, understanding what you're using, and knowing when a particular plant or medicine is appropriate.

There isn't always an either/or when it comes to traditional and modern medicine. Knowledge, caution and knowing your options can help us make informed choices.

Anyway, I'm off to deep clean, sanitise and spiritually cleanse this house of all the remaining germmies because I am DONE 😂
