F**k, the last six weeks have been intense in our house, and we're still not fully recovered.

When you have kids at school, even part-time, it feels inevitable that they're going to bring home some kind of illness. This year's strain of influenza has been a brutal one, and it has definitely made its way through our household.

I know I share a lot about herbal medicine and the plants I work with, but I also think it's really important to say this: using herbal medicine doesn't mean completely disregarding modern medicine.

Just like herbal knowledge, it's important to have an understanding of modern medicines too. In many cases, the two can work alongside each otherβ€”but it's also important to remember that some plants and herbal preparations can interact with certain medications.

Over this flu season, we've been using various teas and tinctures to support us, while also using medicines such as paracetamol and ibuprofen when appropriate. For me, the key is finding a balance, understanding what you're using, and knowing when a particular plant or medicine is appropriate.

There isn't always an either/or when it comes to traditional and modern medicine. Knowledge, caution and knowing your options can help us make informed choices.

Anyway, I'm off to deep clean, sanitise and spiritually cleanse this house of all the remaining germmies because I am DONE πŸ˜‚

Hope you're all staying well and having a much healthier winter than we have!

One of my favourite creative outlets is making jewellery using thrifted beads, pieces from nature, and copper wire. I love giving forgotten materials a new life and creating something a little different and unique.

I've been doing markets here and there, and once a month, you'll find me at the Creative Geelong market. But I've decided it's time to make my creations available online too!

Starting now, every Monday and Friday, I'll be putting six new pieces up for sale.

If you see something you love, simply send me a DM, and it's yours!

Because I only make one or two pieces of each design, you'll be getting something truly uniqueβ€”handmade with love, creativity, and a little bit of nature.

I can't wait to share my creations with you!

The kitchen has always been a place of magic.

Every meal is an opportunity to nourish, celebrate, and connect.

Adding herbs you've grown yourself brings another layer of intention to everyday cooking.

Kitchen witchcraft isn't complicated, it begins with the food we share.

On our walk to the kids' school, this little olive tree appeared in the nature strip. Most likely, a bird dropped the seed and, against all odds, it decided this was the perfect place to grow.

Despite compacted soil, passing feet, mowing, and all the challenges of growing in an unexpected place, this little tree seems to be thriving.

Olive trees have long been symbols of peace, resilience, wisdom, abundance, and endurance. They can live for hundreds of years, quietly weathering droughts, storms, and changing seasons. There's something deeply magical about a tree that asks for so little yet gives so much in return.

I'm secretly hoping the council lets this little volunteer stay. I'd love to watch it grow, flower, and one day produce fruit.

Until then, I'll keep stopping for a little chat with it on the walk to and from school. After all, I like to think every plant appreciates being noticed.

Sometimes the wildest magic isn't found in carefully planned gardens, it's found in the places nature chooses for itself.
