Top tip for tricky school transitions 💡
The Power of Little Treasures ✨
That small pebble in a pocket, a family photo tucked into a school bag 🎒, a tiny toy 🧸, a friendship bracelet, or a handwritten note 📝 may seem insignificant to adults—but to a child, these little treasures can hold enormous meaning.
For many children, these special items act as a tangible reminder of the people they love ❤️ and the safety they feel at home 🏠. During moments of uncertainty, challenge, or separation, they can provide comfort, reassurance, and a sense of connection. These “transitional objects” help bridge the space between home and school, supporting emotional regulation and giving children confidence as they navigate their day.
Rather than seeing these items as distractions, we can recognise them as valuable tools that support a child’s emotional wellbeing and growing independence 🌱. As children feel securely connected, they are better able to engage in learning, build relationships, and manage the natural challenges of being away from their caregivers.
Sometimes, the smallest treasures carry the greatest sense of safety. Connection travels with our children in many forms, and those little reminders of love can make a very big difference 💛.
