💛 Collecting Donations for Soquilichi Rescue Ranch💛

We are excited to announce that this Term 4, 12 of October, we will be collecting donations for Soquilichi Rescue Ranch, the charity chosen by the children.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our children to see how small acts of kindness and generosity can make a meaningful difference to animals and our wider community.

📸 Please see the photos below for information about what donations are needed, what you can contribute, and where to bring your donations.

We encourage families to get involved by talking with your children about generosity, helping others and the different ways we can give back to our community.
Together, we can help our children understand the importance of kindness, compassion and making a positive difference. 🐾❤️

Every donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated and will help support a wonderful cause.

Donation bin will be located on the deck at Outsiders OSHC, starting next week!🌿

Some vacation care ideas really come to life with staff input, kids’ imagination and a little enhancement from technology! 🎩✨

This was the fun we got up to today with our Mad Hatter Tea Party.

A little creativity, a whole lot of imagination and just the right amount of madness! 🫖🐇🎩

We love seeing an idea transform into an experience the kids can really become part of. ❤️

Sneaking in before the kiddos get here…

There is something a little wild and incredibly special about this space during the holidays🌸

Interestingly, during term time the children rarely spend long periods here. But during vacation care? They can literally spend the whole day in this space — building, creating, imagining, talking, resting, negotiating and simply being❤️

We’ve often wondered what the drawcard is. Is it the loose parts? The environment? The resources?

But the more I reflect on it, I think the magic ingredient is actually time🌸

Time without the pressure of the school day.
Time without having to pack up just as an idea begins to grow.
Time for play to evolve, change direction, become complicated, fall apart and begin again.

When children are given a wonderful combination of place, resources, freedom and TIME, something pretty amazing happens. This space becomes a scene of wonder, creativity and, surprisingly, incredible peace❤️

A parent recently said to me, “I don’t know how you do it?”

The funny thing is… I’ve actually done very little to make this happen.

We created the conditions.
The children did the rest🌸

And perhaps that is one of the most important reflections for us as educators — sometimes supporting meaningful play isn’t about adding another activity.

Sometimes it’s about protecting the time and place for play to happen❤️

My Time. Our Place.
In this space, those words make perfect sense. 🍂☘️
