NEVR Music Camp at Beechworth

NEVR Music Camp at Beechworth Three days of amazing music-making for students in Northern Victoria and Eastern Metropolitan Region Team work is so productive.
3. What happens at camp?

Graham Wright one of our past Music Camp Directors and current Tutor believes that The NEVR Music Camp aims to build on three levels of Values.
1. Skills - Three days of practise at our crafts means we value the notion of improvement. We are better players, conductors and tutors; and we've broadened our knowledge bases in those crafts.
2. Co-operation - Working together to produce common results -

pieces of music that have been performed - has shown yet again the miracle of synergy; - the product is for the greater than the sum of the individual's inputs. Self awareness - Each of us as an individual knows more about her or himself - we know that we have the capacity to achieve whatever we aim for. " I couldn't do that" is meaningless because, with application, I can, I have. The NEVR Music Camp runs for three days every year at The Old Priory Beechworth. During the duration of the camp students will choose a main ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Contemporary Ensemble or String Ensemble. These ensembles will be lead by outstanding conductors and tutors from within the NEVR region focussing on developing skills within playing in an ensemble, working towards performing in our Grand Concert on the final night at the Memorial Hall in Beechworth at 7pm. This is a free concert for all parents and friends. Students will also come together in a massed choir lead by Lauren Schmutter to learn a contemporary piece to perform together at the Grand Concert as a Finale. The day is broken up into Ensemble rehearsal, small tutorial groups and Finale rehearsal. On the first evening the students participate in a games night and on the second evening the students participate in a talent quest. Students are given time in the afternoon to work with other students rehearsing an act for the talent quest. Accommodation
Students are accommodated in small or large dorm rooms. During the registration process students are encouraged to nominate a friend who is going to camp to share a room with. Boys and girls are accommodated on different floors. Drop off and pick up times. There is a bus that transports students from Shepparton and Cobram. Please see your Music coordinator if you are travelling from these areas. More information will be sent after registration. Otherwise, students are encouraged to be at The Old Priory no later than 9pm on the first day of camp. Students will be dismissed from the Grand Concert on the final night and picked up by their parents/guardians.
