You’re the one people go to when something needs sorting.
It works. Things move. Nothing falls over.
But at some point, another request comes in and your reaction is sharper than it should be.
That usually gets put down to stress or a bad day.
It’s often more specific than that.
When Someone Always Needs Something. | Aiva Jokela
You’ve become the one people go to. You don’t really notice what that adds up to until your reactions start to change.

I came home to slime hanging from the ceiling.
I was pretty clear when I banned it from the house, and yet here we are.
At this point I don’t even ask how anymore.
Tell me your household nemesis.
Slime, kinetic sand, loom bands… what’s the one thing you’ve said “never again” to that somehow keeps coming back?
Also, if anyone has tips on how to get this off without stripping the paint, I’m listening.

The first time you caught something no one else noticed, it was just good judgment.
After a few repeats it became expected. Not formally.
Just enough that certain work started coming your way, and nobody needed to say why.
That's how the loop starts. Not with a decision.
Just with being good at what you do.

Targets from above.
Clients wanting answers now.
Team issues that can’t wait.
Politics you have to manage.
None of that is new. It comes with the role.
What builds over time is how you respond to it.
Staying across everything.
Stepping in when needed.
Making sure nothing slips.
It works. That’s why you keep doing it.
Keep operating like that for long enough, and it stops being sustainable.

Happy Easter!
Whether today means a family gathering, a hunt for chocolate eggs, or managing kids on a sugar high, I hope you get a moment to enjoy it.

Apparently coffee jelly is a thing.
I have questions.
Has everyone else known about this and I’ve just missed it?

We go back over conversations, messages, and meetings, trying to work out what we missed.
Is This Because of Me?
An email pings on your way to the office. The person in your team you rely on to just get on with it, has resigned, and it catches you off guard.

Today’s plan: Only do the work that’s actually yours.
Happy April Fools.

I can keep track of meetings, appointments, decisions, emails, workflows and who needs to be where and when.
But somehow my coffee disappears the second I put it down.
Please tell me this isn’t just me.
