As parents we’ve made sure Grounded Living is no longer an option, it’s a necessity.
Bringing ourselves to his level 👶🏼 has been a great way to incorporate more time Grounded!
No high chairs here ☺️

How we live is the direction our body is headed. ↗️↘️
Move frequently, and gain better and less restricted movement.
Move less, and y’know the rest…
Don’t over complicate it, spend 10minutes in a position or stretch today that helps open out the tightest area in your body. If it feels good, do it more.
Own your own journey.

Covid could be worse. 🤷🏼♂️
I’ve used Covid as an opportunity to spend more time Grounded.
Whilst I’ve given my body a rest from ‘training’ I refuse to give my body a rest from movement.
Movement is not an option in life. 😉

Repost
Movement frequency and variety dictates age far more than your laps around the sun ☀️
The sun and earth won’t stop moving.. Stop worrying about that and start to focus on your own movement 😉

🤔Imagine free flexibility training everyday done without any thought or any effort.🤔
This training happens automatically with no conscious effort and guarantees an improvement in range of movement and strength in arguably the most important joints in your body (hips, spine, knees, ankles, feet).
Sounds good right?
That’s exactly what building a Grounded Lifestyle is about.

(aka me) normalising the squat one beach at a time 🏝
I go back to a conversation I had with a client of mine about 2 years ago, shoutout , where I explained then that I couldn’t squat to anywhere near parallel most days.
I now spend time in the BOTTOM of my squat every day. I do it in the little ‘breaks’ life gives me such as:
-in line for anything
-whilst the kettle boils
-when cooking
-during gym classes I run
-on the phone
-whilst working on the laptop
-when using my phone
Something to note:
Some days I get lower and deeper, other days I don’t or need to elevate my heels.
My two only rules when I spend time resting in the squat.
1️⃣Don’t force anything
2️⃣Never push through pain
Explore your squat as often as you can, you’ll learn a lot about your body.

What do we mean 👇
The Hips are a ball and socket joint made purely to move in EVERY direction.
Ground positions give a variety of positions for the hips including the most neglected 👉🏼 internal and external rotation.
Lack of these leads without any doubt to hip dysfunction and compensations or overloading of the lower back and knees 🤷
Most (and for many all) of the positions we adopt in the modern western lifestyle move our hips only in the frontal plane (flexing and extending).
What’s the take away??
Your hips aren’t knees. Move them in all directions as often as you can every damn day.

A repost from The Foot Collective] ✌🏼
There’s really nothing at all to add here, other than how easy it is to begin to implement into your lifestyle at any point.
If you’re still stretching for flexibility, without addressing your daily habits that spend a lot more time moulding your body. You’re leaving a lot on the table! 💚
Post below:
The Foot Collective] Ground living: why? How?
Let’s keep this real simple
Why? Because the ground allows and also nudges you to adopt many different positions throughout the day
Position variety is the key to avoiding muscles imbalances and tight joints
How? Slowly reduce the amount of time you spend sitting in chairs. Start with 30 minutes on the floor each day and increase as tolerated
Eventual goal: eliminate more and more furniture from your home and make the floor more inviting (cushions, yoga mats etc)
This is my Thursday setup used for podcasts and emails

We’re not sure who the original credit goes to here. 🤷♀️
It is however the most accurate thing we’ve seen on IG in awhile. 😂
