There are two centres represented in the drawing of the Vitruvian man. These are the centres at the middle of the square and at the middle of the circle. The square is centred at the p***c bone. The centre of the square is the creation point, the origin of the life force or so-called kundalini point. The circle of the Vitruvian man is centred at the navel. The centre of the circle is the root of the energies of the electrical field. This is where we breath in electricity to the navel centre (often incorrectly termed tan tien) and distribute through the kidney centre (the ming men). The circle is formed from the energies of the heart. We see this circle in the ancient depictions of the energy fields of the Medicine Buddha which show both the heart field and the head field.

The Vitruvian man was based upon the writings of the Roman architect Vitruvius who noted that the proportions of the human body were the basis of measurement and proportion of classical buildings.

Having our palms together in front of our heart in these times, just signifies that we want something and we want somebody or something else to get it for us. However - there is a deeper aspect to the Palms Together position of the hands. The positive and negative bioelectrical polarity of the hands can generate a field that expands the heart biofield. When we are still in ourselves and we place our hands together with our hearts there is an expansion. When we do this as part of the Inner Smile Meditation this deepens both openness and love. It isn’t difficult to join the mystic journey into the origins of our creation. The journey is through the ten centres that are the blueprint for the universe and all the creatures within it. How to do it? Really - it’s not that difficult.
Throw away your concept of chakras and just start to play with your feeling sense. Try doing the following exercise. Place both hands in front of you palm upwards. Feel the palm of your right hand for five or so seconds and then feel the palm of your left hand for the same time. Then switch to the right, then the left again and so on. If you’re feeling rather than thinking about it, you will feel something like an energy slinky between your hands as you move your attention.
When you can do this well – maybe after a few weeks of practice; you can open centres. There are a few things it’s handy to know. Firstly there is no magic chakra button. It’s not about finding the switch - place your open attention in the general location. Centres open in the presence of the heart feeling sense. Secondly don’t concentrate – just feel and play. Jesus said ‘Unless you are as little children you cannot enter the Kingdom.’ Well - the Kingdom is the base centre - but this applies to all centres. Don’t try and make it ‘spiritual’ - just play with your feeling sense.
