I was the ADHD girl who was in trouble a lot. Busy, impulsive, couldn’t sit still, carrying “just try harder” around like a backpack I couldn’t take off.
Then high school arrived and it didn’t feel like a step up. It felt like a cliff. Nobody joined the dots between the ADHD and how hard I was finding it.
I don’t think anyone did anything wrong. My folks had the facts but access to tools and strategies was tough back then. That’s what’s different now. The tools exist, and your instinct to start early is exactly the right one.
