Wishing a very Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads, stepdads, grandads, father figures and special people who play such an important role in a child’s life.

Today we celebrate the love, guidance, patience, silly moments, cuddles and memories you give every day. 🌿

We also know Father’s Day can bring many different emotions, so we’re sending a little extra love to anyone who may find today difficult. 💙

Happy Educators’ Day 💜

If it wasn’t for the children who have walked through my door over the years, I wouldn’t be the person or educator I am today.

Every little personality, every cuddle, every challenge, every adventure and every milestone has taught me something along the way. The children have helped me grow, pushed me to keep learning and reminded me why I chose this career in the first place.

I feel incredibly lucky to have been trusted to be such a special part of so many little lives, and I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. 🌿

Happy Educators’ Day to all the wonderful educators out there who show up each day, love what they do and make a difference in ways they may never fully realise. 🤎

And to all my little Down the Lane people — past and present — thank you for helping shape the educator I am today. 🌈

🌼 A little something is in the works… 🌼

I’ve been spending some time putting together a little project for educator’s morning tea next weekend, and I have to say… I’m absolutely loving creating it. 🥹🤎

Looking back through photos, thinking about the little moments, the adventures we’ve shared, the people in our community and everything that makes Down the Lane Down the Lane has been so special.

Sometimes you don’t realise how many beautiful little memories you’ve created until you start putting them all together. 🌻

Still a little more to do, but I’m so excited to see this one come to life. ✨

💜 Community Feedback Wanted 💜

I’m currently working on a little project for Down the Lane Family Day Care, and I would absolutely love some input from our wider community. 💛

One of the things I’ve always loved about Family Day Care is that learning doesn’t have to stay within four walls. Our children get to be part of the world around them — visiting local places, meeting people, exploring, building confidence and creating connections within their community.

If you’ve ever crossed paths with our little DTL crew, followed our adventures, welcomed us somewhere, or simply have thoughts about children being active members of their community, I’d love to hear from you. 🌿

🌿 A LITTLE UPDATE FROM DOWN THE LANE 🌿

Things have been a little quieter around here lately…

I am currently taking some time away from Down the Lane Family Day Care and our social media while I focus on myself and take the time I need.

DTL isn’t going anywhere. 🤎
I’ll be back when the time is right, ready for more play, adventures, learning and all the little moments that make Down the Lane so special.

🌱 Looking ahead to October…

Down the Lane will have limited care positions becoming available, with family show-throughs beginning in October.

Enquiries are now welcome for families wishing to book a show-through.
Please feel free to send the page a private message to register your interest and discuss upcoming availability.

🌿 A little memory from 7 years ago… 🌿

This popped up from 7 years ago, back when I was working as an educator in Long Day Care, and it made me think about just how far my journey in Early Childhood Education has taken me. 🤎

I was nominated for a Pride of Workmanship Award, something I was incredibly proud of.

Reading the reason behind my nomination again is pretty special. I was recognised for my commitment to forming strong community connections that benefited the children and families at the centre I worked at. I had taken the lead in building connections with local businesses and organisations, as well as members of parliament and council, which helped form the basis of a successful community day.

Seven years later, a lot has changed. I’ve gone from working in Long Day Care to creating Down the Lane Family Day Care — but my passion for connecting children with their wider community has stayed with me. 🌿

Looking back now, I think little pieces of what would eventually become DTL were already there. 🥹🤎

It’s pretty special looking back at the educator I was then and seeing how those experiences helped shape the educator I am today.

7 years later and still doing what I love. 💜

🤎 A little appreciation post for our beautiful Raewyn 🤎

Sometimes people come along exactly when you need them, and over these past few weeks, Raewyn has been that person for Down the Lane FDC.

While I have needed to unexpectedly step away from DTL, Raewyn has stepped in and gone above and beyond — not only for me, but most importantly for our little learners.

She has embraced DTL, our routines, our learning and all the little things that make our days ours. She has continued to provide the children with a space where they feel safe, happy, supported and loved, while still giving them opportunities to explore, learn and have fun.

As an educator, handing your little business and the children you adore over to someone else isn’t always easy. But knowing they are being cared for by someone who genuinely cares about them has meant more to me than I can put into words.

And while I’m not quite ready to return yet, Raewyn continues to support DTL and me through the weeks ahead. 🤎

Raewyn, thank you for showing up, for going above and beyond, for loving our little DTL crew and for helping keep our little home away from home going when I haven’t been able to.

I am beyond grateful to have you as part of our DTL village. 🌿
