👩‍🍳☕ A delicious milestone for our Year 12 VET Cookery students!

Our staff were recently treated to a delicious brunch prepared and served by our Year 12 VET Cookery students who have been busy in the kitchen, completing their 12th café service for the year and their final practical cooking assessment for 2026 🥐🍳☕

It has been fantastic to see their skills, confidence and independence grow throughout the year as they work towards completing their Certificate II in Cookery.

👏 A huge congratulations to our Year 12 students on reaching this exciting milestone! We’re so proud of everything you’ve achieved this year. 🎉

Upcoming Term 3 and 4 dates 📆

This Thursday is the last day of formal classes for Term 3 with school finishing at the normal time of 3:05pm.

Parent Teacher conferences will take place at the College on Thursday evening from 5 - 8pm and via Webex/phone on Friday from 9 - 12pm. Bookings for Conferences can be made via the Compass portal and close on Wednesday 12pm. If you would like assistance with booking please contact the College.

There will be no formal classes on Friday to allow for Parent Teacher conferences.

The office will close at 2pm.

We wish our students and families a safe and enjoyable Term break.

Market Day 2.0 took place on a wet, windy and cold afternoon in the Year 8 and 9 Hub. 🌧

Staff and students enjoyed a selection of delicious milkshakes, yummy pavlova, sensational slices, cakes, cookies and brownies and warm toasties and sausages. 🥤🍥🍪🌭

Thankyou to everyone who supported the students enterprises, and congratulations to our amazing students with a total of $500 raised for The Cancer Council. 🌼

❤️ A HUGE thank you to our incredible community and sponsors!

As we wrap up Bairnsdale Secondary College’s Hall of Fame, we want to say a very special thank you to everyone who helped make this production the success it was.

We are so grateful for the generous support of Toyota Dwyers, Bairnsdale Production Line Theatre Company, Sapphire Lighting & Audio Productions, Razor Images and Guac on: Mexican Food Trailer.

💛 R U OK? Day 💛

Our College came together to recognise R U OK? Day and remind our students that sometimes, a simple conversation can make a big difference.

Across each Hub, students created colourful R U OK? walls filled with kind messages, positive reminders and words of encouragement. 🌈💬

In the lead up to RUOK? Day students also had fun jumping behind our moving Polaroid frame, dressing up with props and sharing their own messages on the whiteboard. 📸✨

At break time, students and staff came together for an all-inclusive staff and student mixed basketball game — creating a great opportunity to connect, have fun and celebrate being part of our school community. 🏀

It was fantastic to see so many students getting involved, spreading kindness and showing that everyone has a role to play in looking out for one another. 💛

The day is finally here… it’s OPENING NIGHT! 🎭✨

The students had their final dress rehearsal yesterday, with around 150 audience members from Bairnsdale West and Bairnsdale Primary School joining us to watch the performance, along with some of the year 7 team and some parents and guardians who weren’t able to make it to this weekend’s shows.

We received some fantastic feedback, and it was so wonderful to see both the students in the audience and our students on stage having such a great time! They absolutely loved performing to an almost full house. And while 150 people feels like a huge audience, it actually happens to be our smallest audience of the season compared to our paid performances!

A huge thank you to everyone who has already purchased a ticket and is coming along to support our students. It means so much to them and to everyone involved in bringing this production together. And if you haven’t grabbed your tickets yet, there’s still time!

🌟 Year 9 Career Experiences

Last week, our Year 9 students stepped out of the classroom and behind the scenes at three local organisations across two days!

The visits gave students the opportunity to explore a wide variety of roles and career pathways, see what happens behind the scenes, and hear directly from staff about their day-to-day work and own career journeys. On the first day, students visited Dahlsens Truss and Frame, gaining an insight into the building and construction industry. On the second day, they visited Bairnsdale Regional Health Services and the East Gippsland Shire Council, discovering the diverse range of careers and services that contribute to our local community.

A big thank you to all the staff who generously shared their time, knowledge and experiences with our students. Experiences like these help students connect what they learn at school with the many exciting pathways and opportunities available beyond the classroom. 🙌
