This Catholic Schools Week we were thrilled to announce the winners of our Diocesan art competition. With over 700 entries, the Episcopal panel of Bishop Peter Murphy, Elizabeth O’Brien and Breanna Woodhead from the Armidale Chancery Office had their work cut out for them. Exploring the theme “Mary Our Mother”, the winning artworks will now form the visual heart of our Diocesan Angelus resources, helping our entire community pray together.

Our final Deanery Mass for Catholic Schools Week 2026 took place today at Saint Francis Xavier Church in Moree!
It was a joy to join with our schools in the west of the Diocese to celebrate our shared mission and our 2026 theme: 'Our Hope-Filled Future.' From the beautiful prayers to the sense of community in the air, today was a perfect reflection of our Christ-centered and inclusive system of 24 schools. Nature had other plans for our Friday! We are grateful for the rain but unfortunately, the Gary McSweeney Memorial Cup in Tamworth has been postponed tomorrow due to the wet weather.
To our staff, students, families, clergy and parishes- thank you for your dedication, your faith, and your unwavering support of our system. This week has been a brilliant celebration of delivering a Catholic education to our 6,000+ students✨

Our Catholic Schools Week celebrations continued today with the Armidale Deanery Mass at Saints Mary & Joseph Cathedral.
It was a powerful sight to see students and staff filling the pews, united in prayer and focused on 'Our Hope-Filled Future.' Thank you to Bishop Peter Murphy and the Priests who have lead us this week across all the celebrations. Thank you to all who travelled, read, served, organised, sang, played music and participated in Mass. We were also very pleased to welcome Boris Tesanovic who represented the UniSuper team today, thank you for your support and being part of our journey!
The energy from Monday’s launch is still going strong, and we look forward to our final Deanery Mass in Moree tomorrow! 🕊️🙌

Today kicks off Reconciliation Week, a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
Across our Diocese, we are share the stories and histories of the traditional custodians of the lands where our 24 schools stand.
