Just For Now
- Just for now, without asking how, let yourself sink into stillness.
- Just for now, lay down the
weight you so patiently
bear upon your shoulders.
Feel the earth receive
you, and the infinite
expanse of sky grow even
wider as your awareness
reaches up to meet it.
- Just for now, allow a wave of breath to enliven your experience.
- Breathe out
whatever blocks you from
the truth. Just for now, be
boundless, free, awakened
energy tingling in your
hands and feet. Drink in
the possibility of being
who and what you really are
so fully alive that when you
open your eyes the world
looks different, newly born
and vibrant, just for now.

I read an interesting new article today. Essentially, it shows that breathwork and mindfulness meditation are both effective in managing stress, but breathwork is more effective than mindfulness meditation, and especially when long exhales are used:
1. Daily 5-minute breathwork (control the breath) and mindfulness meditation (passive attention to breath) both improved mood and reduced anxiety.
2. Breathwork improved mood and physiological arousal more than mindfulness meditation.
3. Out of three kinds of breathwork studied, using long exhales was most effective at improving mood and reducing respiratory rate than box breathing or long inhales.
All good for doing both mindfulness and pranayama, but if you're going to do one for anxiety/stress, choose pranayama with long exhales. π§ββοΈπ§
