We had fantastic sessions with Tennis SA today at Indulkana School. It was amazing for our Primary students to get 1:1 coaching opportunities, as well as opportunities to continue our practice with Tennis SA providing us with brand new nets, racquets and balls.

Always a pleasure, thanks so much Tennis SA & PYEC for making this possible! 🎾

Last week at preschool we focused on building our social skills, getting to know our friends, and learning how to care for and respect our environment. 🌳❤️

We explored circles through painting, tracing, drawing, and printing while also learning about colours through books, games, and fun hands-on activities. Pattern making has become a favourite, with the children creating patterns through threading, beading, and using blocks.

The week was also filled with active play, including obstacle courses to practise our balancing skills, kicking and throwing balls, and working together to keep balloons in the air. We even created an exciting chalk obstacle course to follow and developed our coordination skills through movement and games.

We enjoyed sensory play with chia seed goop, building towers, singing and dancing together, and helping one another during play.

We ended the week with Bush Kindy, walking to Indulkana Creek, and learning on Country. We used magnifying glasses to find insects and examine the variety of rocks, continuing to explore the concepts of smooth and rough.

A special highlight was cooking delicious banana muffins with Zane, where we practised turn-taking, following instructions, and working together as a team. 😊

We have had another busy week in the art room!

Tjala Class have been exploring colour in all its forms, revisiting and experimenting with the many colours we have investigated throughout the term. Students also began learning about cool colours, observing artworks and materials to identify blues, greens and purples.

Kipara Class continued their exploration of expressive mark making through big body movements and energetic drawing activities. Students experimented with how movement, speed and pressure can influence the marks they create and have now begun brainstorming ideas for their upcoming fire-themed artworks.

Secondary had the opportunity to participate in a Tjanpi Desert Weavers workshop, gaining valuable industry exposure while learning new skills and hearing about the many pathways connected with the arts. At school Helen has begun working on her ceramic plate designs, Edna has started a detailed colour study, and Keanu has completed the first painting in his series inspired by community dogs.

The Children and Family Centre have been working on a project documenting Aṉangu Symbols for the last few years. We had contributions from the Art Centre, CDP, the broader community and even some friends from neighbouring communities to document and label symbols. Iwiri also helped us with the documentation of symbols.

We were very excited to work with ALNF again to turn ideas into reality with posters, cards, puzzles, stamps and bags! Families documented symbols that are important and recorded their meanings as a tool to teach their children. Our new resources have been shared across the partnership, we look forward to seeing how you use them and continue to celebrate Aṉangu literacies!

A big shout out to Nikki, Cynthia and all of our wonderful Early Years Educators from IAS that put so much work into making this project happen.

Tjala Class had a special visit from Cassius, James and a little Joey this afternoon! They talked to us about what to do if you find one in the wild and how to care for it. We worked on a sorting activity, deciding what would the Joey needs and what would it not need. Thank you Cassius & James! ☺️

KUṈPU - WANGAṈARA - ARKAṞA • We’re so proud to see our teachers, Aṉangu educators, and students learning Key Word Sign together at Indulkana Aṉangu School. By signing our words, we are making sure everyone can feel strong, respected, and do their best at school—even if they don’t have words to speak. A big thank you to for training our staff and helping us learn and grow together!

This week during Fella Time, the fellas set themselves a challenge to ride their bikes to the top of Cross Hill. Through teamwork, determination and encouragement, they successfully achieved their goal and enjoyed the sense of accomplishment that came with it.

After the ride, the boys took part in their weekly wellbeing check-in, taking time to reflect on how they were feeling, celebrate their successes over the week and support one another.

Well done, fellas! 🚴‍♂️👏

We spent a beautiful afternoon collecting all the rocks from around school and painting them to decorate our gardens. All the kids loved listening to music, having a yap and painting patterns. Another wonderful Iwantja Day ❤️🖤💛
