This week marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week, running from 27 May to 3 June.
Throughout the week, we take the opportunity to educate and engage our children in learning about First Nations cultures, histories and traditions, while exploring the meaning and importance of reconciliation in Australia.
Through conversations, experiences, stories, art and activities, we encourage our children to develop respect, understanding and appreciation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures.
National Reconciliation Week reminds us of the importance of building relationships, showing respect and working together towards a more inclusive future for all Australians. โค๏ธ๐๐ค

๐ This week we celebrated Bee Day! ๐
The children had so much fun creating their own bees out of egg cartons while learning about these amazing little pollinators. It was a great hands-on activity filled with creativity, conversation and lots of smiles! ๐จ๐ผ
๐ Funny Bee Fact: Honey never spoilsโฆ archaeologists have even found honey in ancient Egyptian tombs that was still good to eat! ๐ฏ๐ฎ
The children were so proud of their bee creations and we loved seeing everyone get involved this week! โจ

Safe, smooth transitions from school to OSHC make all the difference in a childโs day ๐
At Mt Lockyer OSHC, from the moment the bell rings, our focus is on creating a calm, welcoming environment where children feel secure and supported. Clear routines, familiar faces, and open communication help ease the shift from the classroom to after-school care.
We prioritise:
โ๏ธ Safe collection procedures
โ๏ธ Strong communication with schools and families
โ๏ธ Emotional check-ins with each child
โ๏ธ A balance of rest, play, and connection
Every child deserves to feel safe, seen, and settled as they move through their dayโand weโre here to make that happen.

Our future is in their hands ๐๐
Teaching the next generation about caring for our oceans and waterways is so important. Every piece of rubbish that ends up in the water can harm marine life, damage ecosystems, and impact the beauty of our natural world.
By helping children understand the importance of not littering, recycling, and looking after their environment, we are empowering them to become responsible and respectful stewards of the planet. Small actionsโlike putting rubbish in the bin or reusing materialsโcan make a big difference.
Together, we can inspire young minds to protect our oceans today, for a cleaner, healthier tomorrow ๐โจ

Nachos were on the menu today at our Mt Lockyer OSHC, and they were a big hit! ๐ฎ๐ง The children had a great time enjoying their yummy afternoon snack together, topped with all the tasty extras.
Food time at OSHC is always more than just eating. itโs a chance to sit together, chat about our day, and build friendships. Moments like these are what make our afternoons so special at Mt Lockyer. ๐
