🇮🇹At Signorina, we embrace the bilingual approach because we know children learn language best in the same natural way they learn their first language—through play, songs, stories, movement, conversation and everyday interactions.
Rather than teaching Italian in isolation, our educators naturally move between English and Italian throughout each session. This allows children to build understanding, make meaningful connections between both languages and feel confident participating without becoming overwhelmed. Over time, as familiarity grows, children begin recognising, understanding and using Italian more independently.
The early years are a particularly valuable time for language learning because young children’s brains are incredibly adaptable. During this stage, they naturally absorb sounds, vocabulary and sentence patterns through repeated exposure rather than formal instruction. This helps children develop authentic pronunciation, confidence and a positive relationship with language! 🥰
That’s why our programs don’t focus on memorising vocabulary lists or repetitive drills. Instead, we immerse children in a rich bilingual environment where English and Italian are used interchangeably and purposefully throughout every experience. Whether we’re cooking, singing, reading stories, exploring nature or creating art, children hear, understand and use Italian in meaningful contexts. This bilingual approach helps language become something children experience, rather than something they simply study.
Most importantly, learning another language should never feel like a lesson—it should feel like an adventure.
