The Flute Society of South Australia is a non-profit organization which aims to foster and encourage flute playing in South Australia.

The Flute Society of South Australia is a non-profit organization which aims to foster and encourage enjoyment of flute playing in the broadest possible sense. The Society’s role includes promoting local and interstate artists, encouraging young players and forging links out into the community. Regular activities of the Flute Society include workshops, concerts, fun days, masterclasses

and recitals. Background

The Flute Society of South Australia was formed on July 26 1972 at the instigation of the late David Cubbin. The inaugural meeting was held in the Recital Room, Flinders Street School of Music, at which David Cubbin was elected President, Alison Rosser was elected Secretary and Judy Cooper was elected Treasurer. The Society was officially incorporated on October 16 1975.

MICHAEL COX ADELAIDE FLUTE COURSE REGISTRATIONS CLOSING SOON!

as soon as possible as registrations have been very strong and numbers are limited. You can register and an invoice will be sent in early September.

Michael Cox will teach and play for approximately 40 hours during the course, and this unique course with Michael is not available anywhere else in the world.

A great opportunity for advanced flautists (Grade 6 AMEB+)!

2 day intensive workshop. Held in the July school holidays, 18 and 19 July at Adelaide University.

Hurry! Applications close this coming Friday 26 June! An opportunity not to be missed!

The Flute Intensive Workshop is a two-day workshop at the Elder Conservatorium for dedicated secondary school flute students (approximately AMEB Grade 6 and above), held at the end of the July school holidays.

Led by flautist Dr Kathryn Moorhead, the workshop is designed for students interested in developing their ensemble skills, musicianship, technique and performance confidence, with a particular focus on Years 10–12 students and those considering tertiary music study. Younger advanced students are also welcome to apply. Places are limited, with participation based on a brief video/audio submission at registration.

The weekend will include:

🎼 Ensemble Lab: Listening, blending and leading within a group
🎶 Finding Your Sound: Flute Fundamentals Through Repertoire
🎵 Inside the Orchestra: An introduction to orchestral excerpts
🎼From Practice Room to Performance: Skills to become performance ready

The course will conclude with an informal performance for family and friends.

Application required: Please note that it is free to apply to participate in this workshop, but successful applicants will be required to pay the registration fee and will be contacted with payment instructions. Applications close on Friday 26 June 2026 at 5:00pm.
