It’s been a very fun year so far! Teaching knitting skills and connecting with knitting communities at local yarn stores and yarn festivals all over the country is a dream come true!

It’s been three years but I’m finally heading back to WA!!! 🥳🥳🥳

Cosy Cottage Yarns in Armadale, WA, have invited me to teach a stackable knitting retreat in their friendly neighbourhood cafe The Organic Circle So excited to check out Cosy Cottage Yarns - Cheryl & Sandy and to connect with the Armadale/ Perth & beyond knitting community!

I’ll be teaching four workshops across 14-15 November plus there’s a social event on the Saturday night!

I had no idea before I began creating the Aussie Yarn Tourism map that there were close to 200 yarn destinations in Australia… and counting! I have only been to about 25 -30 of the places on this list! I hope to visit and teach at more in future!

This interactive map exists for free in Google Maps and is broken into 5 categories:
🏠Brick & Mortar stores
🎨 Independent Shop with yarn
📲 Open by Appointment
🛒 Chain Craft stores
🎟️ Annual events and festivals

If I’ve missed one: tag them below and I’ll add them to the map if they have a Google business profile. There’s no vetting process: everyone gets added- which is why your Google reviews are so important to help yarn tourists know where they should plan to visit next! Sadly some of the stores on the list haven’t been reviewed in years… I had to do more research to check they were actually still open!

I haven’t included the multitude of amazing
Australian indie dyers and online stores as this map is about yarn tourism ie. encouraging people to travel and visit a studio/ gallery/ shop/ market/ festival. So, unless there is a physical space people can go to, they aren’t on the map.
