One of the biggest misconceptions in education is that learning should look the same for every child.
In reality, children learn in different ways, at different paces, and build confidence through different experiences.
Growth begins when children feel capable, supported and understood ๐ฑ

One of the things I loved most as a secondary Biology and Earth & Environmental Science teacher was taking learning beyond the classroom walls.
I found that when students were outside, immersed in nature and real-world experiences, their understanding of the content became far more meaningful. They were able to connect what they were learning to the world around them, making the knowledge more powerful and relevant.
This is the same philosophy I bring to my learning plans and resources today. Hands-on, engaging learning that connects to where you are, what youโre experiencing, and how knowledge applies in real life.

One of the beautiful things about travelling and flexible learning is seeing children become curious about the world around them.
Exploring rock pools.
Asking questions.
Observing nature.
Discovering things for themselves.
This counts as learning too!

Heading off on a Big Lap and wondering how to manage your childโs learning along the way?
Youโre not alone โ itโs one of the biggest questions families have before they leave.
This is where I can help! I create personalised learning plans designed specifically for travelling families, covering literacy, numeracy and a themed unit that can connect to where youโre heading.
Plans are flexible and can be created for 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 6 months or a full year, giving you clear direction without the pressure of trying to recreate a full school day on the road.
If youโve been feeling unsure about whether your child will stay on track or โfall behindโ, I can help take that pressure off and give you a plan that works for your family.
With over 20 years of teaching experience, Iโll make sure learning stays meaningful, manageable and realistic while you travel.
Below is an example of what numeracy could look like for a child in Year 2 ๐

I get a lot of similar questions from families who are starting out with homeschooling or planning to learn on the road.
So I thought Iโd answer a few of the most common ones below:
๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐
๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐จ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐?
Yes! I support families from anywhere in Australia, including those travelling.
๐พ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐?
I offer a range of personalised learning plans to suit different needs, including 6-week, 10-week, 6-months and full-year options.
Each plan is tailored to your child and your familyโs lifestyle, whether youโre travelling or learning at home.

๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐?
Each plan is built around your child and familyโs lifestyle.
It will include guidance for literacy and numeracy, along with a themed unit based on your childโs interests or travel experiences.
Youโll also have a clear structure to follow, with flexible ideas and activities that fit into your day.

๐๐?
This will look different for every family, but itโs often much less than people expect.
A couple of focused hours on key areas like literacy and numeracy, along with real-life learning throughout the day, is often more than enough.
Itโs about consistency and making learning part of your everyday routine, not recreating a full school day.
๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐?
Not in the traditional sense.
Instead, I build a clear plan and approach for your child's learning, so you're not left guessing what to do each day.
If you've been feeling unsure where to start or just want a bit of direction, feel free to reach out.

Learning doesn't need to look like a classroom to be meaningful.
It often occurs through everyday moments, conversations and experiences.
