Looking forward this event today!
Join us for a timely conversation about food, place and collective action. Canberra’s food landscape is changing. Rising living costs, climate pressures and limited access to land are shaping who can grow food - and where. In response, community gardens, compost hubs, seed libraries and food pantries are becoming vital spaces for connection, care and local resilience.
Presented by Dr Bethaney Turner, Dr Ro McFarlane and Dr Naomi Zouwer from the UC Future of Food Network - a multidisciplinary collaboration across the University of Canberra’s Faculty of Arts and Design, Faculty of Education and Faculty of Health - this talk explores how we can strengthen local food system resilience and sustainability. Drawing on research in Canberra and leading examples from across Australia and internationally, the session considers what supports community-led food initiatives, what challenges them, and what it takes to build a more just and sustainable food future in the ACT.
Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in an optional interactive activity to visually map and reflect on the ideas explored during the session.

• Megalo is excited to be running another School Holiday Program for the July School Holidays!
Running on 7+8 and 14+15 July, Megalo’s School Holiday Programs offer creative and engaging workshops tailored for young artists, providing a fun introduction to the world of printmaking. The program will deliver two workshops for each age group:
🔶 Zine Making
A zine is a handmade mini-magazine, a creative way to share ideas, stories and artworks. In this workshop the group will work together to make a collaborative zine. The group will choose a theme and fill the pages with drawings, combining everyone’s designs. Once we’ve designed layout we will expose it onto a screen and each participant will have the chance to screen print their own copy.
🔶 Print Your Own Jumper
Step into the shoes of a designer and create your own custom jumper! In this workshop, artists will transform their ideas into bold, eye-catching designs. With guidance from Megalo printers, participants will develop their drawings and expose them onto a screen using the UV exposure unit. Participants will then print their designs onto their own jumper, learning skills that real designers use every day. By the end of the workshop, everyone will have their own custom jumper to wear proudly.

Posted • (FI/EN) 🧒 Eilen vietimme aamupäivää Lumottu polku -työpajan merkeissä taidemuseolla sekä Kirkkopuistossa. Australialaiset taideopiskelijat Canberran yliopistosta toteuttivat työpajan esikoululaisille. Lumottu polku muodostui eri työskentelypisteistä, joissa lapset rakensivat omia teoksiaan kierrätys- tai luonnonmateriaaleista. Osa pisteistä sijaitsi ulkona, osa Kenen luonto? -näyttelyssä ja loput Taika-tilassa ja taidetila Ilmiössä. Polku johti Lumottuun metsään, jossa riitti yhteistä tutkittavaa.
💚 Kiitos taideopiskelijoille pajan toteutuksesta ja kaikille innokkaille osallistujille lennokkaasta mielikuvituksesta!

(EN) 👧 Yesterday we spent the morning at the art museum and Kirkkopuisto park as part of the Enchanted Path workshop. Australian art students from Canberra University organized the workshop for preschoolers. The Enchanted Path consisted of various activity stations where children created their own artworks using recycled or natural materials. Some of the stations were located outdoors, some in the Whose Nature? exhibition, and the rest in the workshop room and the Ilmiö art room. The path led to an Enchanted Forest, full of things to explore together.
💚 Thank you to the art students for organizing the workshop and to all the enthusiastic participants for their soaring imagination!

Taller SANAA, (TA - YER SAN - A), is a joint studio composed of collaborative multidisciplinary artists and .strauss based in San Francisco USA. Their Taller (studio) name reflects the artists’ cultural backgrounds - “Sana” translates as a compelling command to “heal” in Spanish, while “sanaa’’ embodies the essence of “art” in Kiswahili, weaving together Jessica’s Colombian roots and Shanna’s Tanzanian heritage. Through shared values in equity and social justice, Taller Sanaa are committed to creating healing artwork that uplifts the sacredness of women, people of color, the differently abled, q***r and trans folks, immigrants and the undocumented, and our indigenous comrades who continue to face ongoing oppression and marginalization. Each piece is a celebration of differences and a symbol of liberation.
