Im Rahmen des History and Social Sciences Festival des Research Center for the History of Transformations (RECET) erhielt Gunnar Christian Blix am 9. Juni den „2026 Nachwuchspreis in historischer Transformationsforschung“ für seine MA-Arbeit "Sør-Afrika i våre hender! The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions and the struggle against apartheid in South Africa 1973-87", mit der er dieses Frühjahr das MA-Studium Globalgeschichte abgeschlossen hatte. Anhand sorgfältiger Recherchen analysiert er darin die Verbindungen zwischen den Arbeiterbewegungen in Norwegen und Südafrika und diskutiert die sich wandelnden Motive für das Engagement in Südafrika sowie die daraus resultierenden Maßnahmen.

Betreut wurde die Arbeit von Birgit Englert vom Institut für Afrikawissenschaften, der Preis wurde von „1989 - Verein zur Förderung der historischen Transformationsforschung und des Wissenstransfers“ gestiftet.

Ein Radiobeitrag von MA-Studierenden der Afrikawissenschaften, der im Rahmen der Lehrveranstaltung Expressive Kulturen in Afrika und Diasporas. Kulturwissenschaftliche Podcasts gestalten am Institut entstand (Leitung: Katharina Gartner) wird nun über Radio Orange 94.0 als Teil der Sendereihe Kulturforschung für die Ohren ausgestrahlt. Er ist ab sofort auch über das Cultural Broadcasting Archive (CBA) online zugänglich.

Welche Rolle spielte Musik im südafrikanischen Widerstand gegen die Apartheid? Der Beitrag möchte Widerstandsgeschichte mit facettenreichen Musikbeispielen hörbar machen. Denn expressive Kulturpraktiken wie Musik, Tanz, Theater und Lyrik boten im repressiven Apartheidregime über mehrere Zeiträume eine der wenigen Plattformen, auf denen Schwarzer Widerstand performt werden konnte. Der Beitrag richtet einen kulturhistorischen Blick auf die ersten drei Jahrzehnte der Apartheid: die 1950er, 1960er und 1970er Jahre, begleitet von vielfältigen Musikbeispielen.
