FIU ILSA

For those interested in trying out for the FIU Law International Commercial Arbitration Team, you should watch the final round of the Vis Moot competition! The team just returned from competing in the Vis in Vienna, Austria. Last year the team competed in the VisEast in Hong Kong!
Also, PSA: team tryouts will be at the end of summer with mandatory meetings in August 2019. More information to follow in the next few weeks. In the meantime, if you have questions or would like to express interest, please email Dean Manuel Gomez.

FIU Law’s International Arbitration team co-presidents, M. Katie Berney and Ana Portal, competed as respondent in Day 4’s round against the University of Lucerne.

FIU Law faced off against the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA) today on Day 3 of the Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot competition. FIU Law acted as claimant represented by Megan Labgold (3L) and Melissa Gonzalez (2L). The two teams are pictured here with the tribunal.

The International Commercial Arbitration Vis Moot Opening Ceremony. There is a record 372 teams from around the world (more than 89 countries!) competing at this moot. It is quite the event!

It is almost time to elect a new ILSA Executive Board for the 2019-2020 academic year. The positions up for election are the following:

Vice President
Treasurer
Secretary
Vice President of Events
Vice President of Media
Vice President of Publications
Recruitment Officer

You may nominate yourself for any of these positions or you may nominate someone else. Please be mindful that any one person can only run for one position. The nomination period will run from NOW until Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at 5:00 PM. Please send any nominations to [email protected]. Nominations must include the nominee's (1) name, (2) year (ex. 1L, 2L, 3L, 4L), and (3) nominated position.

Once the nomination period has closed, you will all recieve a link to the voting site. The voting period will run from the close of the nominations period until Monday, April 8, 2019 at 5:00 PM.
