G4EU celebrates
Upcoming: Vienna 🌉
Don‘t miss 🔜 Thu, 28th of May, 18h-19:30h
TALK on Graham‘s body of work and its pedagogical evolution. .fabrik
📑About: Founded in 2017 by Rafael Molina, the mission is to connect dancers, teachers, and enthusiasts of the Graham technique across Europe, fostering collaborations through exchanges with European artists, the Martha Graham Center, and global communities.
G4EU offers regular classes, exchange programs and scholarships, conferences and resources (educational materials and mentorship).
At regularly held conferences, questions concerning the historical significance, as well as the philosophical and technical principles underlying the Graham technique, are explored.
By that, G4EU preserves and expand Martha Graham’s revolutionary technique, believing in dance as a universal language of expression.
The research engages with questions such as
- Has Graham Educational diversity been documented and by that asking for a decentered, transnational and plural history?
- What is Graham today? Should primarily be understood as a codified form and fixed body of content, or rather as a pedagogical approach and way of transmitting knowledge and practice?
G4EU focuses on the future and asks how we can collectively envision and contribute to a fair transmission of the Graham legacy. This involves recontextualizing Graham and engaging in a critical rereading of the technique in order to challenge and reconsider what Graham could be and what it should become in contemporary practice and education.
