This weekend, CASY members gathered for a quiet retreat in the woods, spending a night at the Historic BOTL Farmhouse in Ashford, Connecticut. Honorable guest, alum and club founder Martin Urdapilleta was even able to take time out of his busy New York days to join! Whether it was settling the debate of “pesto or tomato sauce: which goes on pasta?”, burning cookies together, sharing favourite song lyrics, dancing in the kitchen, midnight movie-watching, nature hikes, or simply enjoying each other’s company, our experiences reminded us that we are indeed a family— not just in our college years, but whenever we need each other. Thank you to everyone who participated, and to our wonderful hosts at BOTL!

Yesterday, CASY had the honour and privilege of spending the day at the United Nations headquarters for the 2017 Latino Impact Summit, where politicians, diplomats, and corporate executives from around Latin America discuss the role of their respective countries in the future of the region's development. Yale World Fellow Facundo Garretón led a panel alongside 5 of Argentina's leading innovators in politics and business: Guillermo Dietrich (Minister of Transport), Eduardo Levy Yeyati (Dean of Dorcuato di Tella University), Marcos Galperín (CEO and founder of Mercado Libre), Guibert Englebienne (Cofounder of Globant), and Esteban Bullrich (Senator for the province of Buenos Aires, and former Minister of Education).
Following the summit, CASY met with Congressman Garretón, Mr. Galperín, Mr. Englebienne, Minister Dietrich and Senator Bullrich for an unforgettable afternoon discussing our role as students and citizens in giving back to our country.
CASY would like to congratulate Congressman Garretón for being awarded the "Millenial Latino Leader of the Year" award at the summit, Mr. Galperín for receiving the "Latin American Businessman of the Year", and Ms. Bettina Bulgheroni, president of Fundación Educa in Argentina, for her distinction in Latin American Social Leadership.
We'd like to extend an additional warm and most sincere gratitude to Mr. Garretón for his work on campus throughout the semester, and his initiatives in helping involve students in any way he can.
We are so proud of our country and its leaders! You inspire us to do what we love, and give back to our beloved Argentina, every single day.
